The Company:
Our Client is an independent Australian oil and gas company playing a key role in supplying energy to our region.

They are one of the world’s leading producers of liquefied natural gas, helping meet the demands for cleaner energy from Japan, China, Korea and other countries in the Asia Pacific region.

The Role:
The purpose of this position is to deliver functional excellence for Metocean Engineering and to contribute to the governance over engineering activities and deliverables across the clients business. You will provide Metocean support to exploration, projects, front end engineering activities, and producing assets.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Delivering metocean information to the business - this will be achieved through:
o Leading collection and analysis of metocean campaign and operational measurements
o Leading numerical modelling studies of ambient and extreme weather events
o Developing metocean criteria based on the outcomes of measurement and numerical modelling studies
o Leading operational forecasting of ambient and extreme weather events
• Monitoring and evaluating ongoing research and development relevant to the metocean discipline to continuously improve Metocean design methods
• Preparing documentation to support studies (eg Scopes of Work; Project Execution Plans, Assurance Plans, Design Premise)
• Leading technical negotiations and bid evaluation for work packages delivered by contractors.
• Ensuring that all activities and studies are carried out within the framework of the Management System
• Supporting cost management and control activities and project reporting
• Assisting in the development and management of strong contractor relationships
• Assisting in the maintenance of standards and guidelines for use on projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Meteorology, Naval Architecture or related ocean sciences discipline
• Post graduate qualifications in related discipline desirable
• CPEng accreditation desirable
• Excellent communication, written and organisational skills
• Project management capability.
• Skills, knowledge and experience across the metocean engineering discipline, including:
o Metocean design criteria development for
• - Drilling
• - Fixed offshore structures
• - Floating offshore structures
• - Coastal facilities
• - Subsea and pipelines
o Operational weather (extreme and ambient) forecasting
o Field campaign measurement planning and execution
o Numerical modelling of winds, waves and currents
o Response Based Design
