The Role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Pipeline Engineer for their San Antonio, TX operation in the Eagle Ford shale resource play. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for on going field development within the Eagle Ford play in South Texas. The position requires a strong customer focus, a high degree of self direction & motivation, excellent verbal/written communication skills, organization and prioritization knowhow, computer proficiency, and the ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment. Travel to field locations including, Kenedy, Pleasanton and Gonzales will be required. This position will report to the Facilities Engineering Supervisor.


• Possesses a thorough understanding of piping codes and standards related to DOT 49CFR 192 and 195, ASME B31.3, B31.4, ASME B31.8, NACE, API as applicable to onshore pipeline design and construction
• Provides facilities engineering support for the Eagle Ford Asset Team with a focus on liquid and gas pipeline designs across the asset. Responsible for completing and/or coordinating basis of design documentation, pipeline routing, drawing packages, cathodic protection & pigging design, and hydraulic analysis and modeling
• Pipeline route selection to include completing and/or coordinating route analysis, crossing selection and design, alignment sheets creation, HDD calculations and design, and class location documentation
• Pipe specification development to include compliance to DOT 49CFR 192 and 195, and appropriate codes and standards, pipe sizing, weld spec, hydraulic analysis, hydro-test plans, PFD/P&ID creation, and external coating
• Interfaces with an inter-disciplinary teams, both internal and external, to develop a pipeline design strategy for flow lines, transfer lines, gathering lines, and export pipelines across the asset. Consideration should be made to review all the viable options, including strategies with the local pipeline operators and/or partnering with other production operators, etc.
• Works with the Eagle Asset Team to ensure new pipeline system designs meets the capacity requirements from the wellhead to the point of sale
• Responsible for the evaluation of new pipelines to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations. Familiarity with applicable onshore gas and liquid gathering and transmission system regulatory requirements, including but not limited to DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration Pipeline Safety Regulations Title 49 CFR Acts as Marathon Lead for conducting NACE compliance assessments of the EF gathering pipelines
• Works with the Upstream Reliability Group to ensure pipeline design conforms to industry standards and the requirements of Integrity Management
• Related to pipelines, demonstrates pro-active leadership in establishing integrity management systems and leading change. Assists the Eagle Ford Asset Team in the establishment of a risk based monitoring and integrity management program
• Extensive experience in process hazards analysis, failure and root cause analysis and their application in a producing asset
• Engages effectively with both office-based technical staff and field-based operations & construction personnel
• Continuously demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, written and oral communications and teaming skills
• Coordinates with development managers and field engineers to ensure the engineering design process provides for lessons learned and continuity across the production areas

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Education: Degree: Engineering, Mechanical, or Civil required
• Experience: 10-15 years of oil and gas design and field operations experience with a minimum of 5+ years experience working on onshore pipeline design and construction
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Products and Aspen Technology (HYSYS/PIPESYS), or other hydraulic modeling software is a plus
• General: Excellent oral and written communication, teamwork, planning and organizational skills required
• Certifications: P.E. preferred, but not required
• Travel (%): 20%
