The Role:
Main Duties:
o Coordinate the execution of Plant Layout and Piping engineering activities (Concept, FEED, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
o Ensure that the technical competence of Piping personnel under their supervision is matched to the work in hand
o Ensure that the work output of Piping personnel under their supervision complies with the relevant, Client, national & international standards & procedures. This will be generally be achieved by applying the checking & approval procedure for all created documents, & calculations.
o Provide technical assistance to Piping personnel as required. This will include developing the knowledge and skills of the Piping personnel, including mentoring.
o Ensure as far as practically possible all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
o Be conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards e.g., BS, API and Client codes and standards, DCR and HS&E Regulations and EU Directives
o Prepare engineering and construction scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules.
o Ensure that results of any development work are fully utilised in Piping activities
o Provide technical assistance to other disciplines as required
o Providing documentation and drawing deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and design books on time to meet offshore deadlines
o Producing cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe
o Participate as necessary in discussions with Clients and visit job sites as required
o Assist the Lead Piping Engineer when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties


Health and Safety Responsibilities:
o Shall take into account all aspects of the "Health and Safety at Work etc. Act (1974)",
o Knowledge of, compliance with and promotion of office, site and contract/project health and safety guidelines and procedures.
o Comply with the Safety Management System
o Take part and contribute to construction risk assessments and construction method statements
o Take into account all relevant procedures, guidance etc. relating to the work, which will ensure compliance with Safety Management System


Education & Qualifications:
• Preferred chartered engineer status Minimum criteria for consideration for selection as an Engineer is one of the following or a combination of:
o Qualifications such as a mechanical degree or HND or HNC
A career progression from skilled mechanical trades or designer to an engineer position, which must be demonstrable


Specific Training / Specialist Skills:
• Conversant with ASME B31.3, BS8010, BS EN 13480, ASME B16.5, API 6D, etc.
• Conversant with ASME VIII & BS EN 13445
• Fully conversant with material and valve properties and selection techniques
• Conversant with Engineering software including Word & Excel
• Current offshore medical certificate


Experience:
Skilled engineering experience, including considerable oil and gas related experience.


Personal Skills:
• Capable of representing and Client to business associates in a professional manner
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Team player
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications
• Displays confidence in own abilities and is motivated to deliver
• Ability to investigate and interpret data
• Ability to be responsive and open to changing circumstances
• Ability to motivate and supervise other discipline personnel
