Senior Piping Engineer - Onshore / Offshore

The Role:
•Provide specialist technical / engineering advice and guidance to site / offshore personnel on the operation and maintenance of piping / structural repairs ensuring highest safety standards, a timely response to queries and minimal disruption to operations
•Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and effective manner and that all interventions are controlled by authorised persons, satisfy statutory and Company standards and that no hazardous incidents or events occur
•Contribute to the development of strategies and contracts for the repair of piping / structural items to ensure that all plant and equipment meets verification and compliance requirements
•Ensure all relevant operations and maintenance procedures, documentation, drawings and spare parts in the domain of piping/structural are maintained in an accurate and current status and are available on request
•Contribute to the development of repair monitoring tools, proactively monitor, review and analyse work plan, progress and provide feedback to Line Management, identifying efficiency problems, and propose solutions
•Encourage the reporting of all incidents, ensure that incidents are investigated and action incident close-outs as appropriate
•Prepare the scopes of work for piping and structural repair contracts, make recommendations on preferred contractors and co-ordinate the contractors as contract representative, assess and optimize the contracts performance, monitoring and controlling manpower usage, and expenditure.
•Ensure that maintenance activities are appropriately prioritised within operations maintenance plans, taking a lead role in the involvement/co-ordination of, and interface between, onshore/site/offshore teams/contractors ensuring effective communication and understanding between appropriate parties
•Conduct ad-hoc technical surveys on site/offshore and at vendor/repair locations, providing detailed technical reports identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors
•Develop positive and constructive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services / products supplied
•Provides guidance and support to less experienced engineers within discipline team
•Develop and maintain good working relationships with site personnel through effective communication and by making regular visits to offshore installations and St Fergus terminal
•Provide input to the budget preparation process relating piping/structural repair activity
•Responsible for managing specific budget lines, monitoring costs and ensuring that expenditures are within budget
•Supervise Piping repair and piping survey activities
•As proponent engineer prepare scopes of work and economic justification for modifications ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented and reported and that all modifications are implemented in accordance with statutory / Company standards and modifications are correctly closed-out.
•Produce work packs to give direction to site personnel at all levels (technician to senior management) for implementation of class 2 modifications or technical solutions to plant and machinery. Accountable for the close out and update of all associated documentation and planned maintenance.
•Technically responsible for review and final approval of estimates, work scopes and modification documentation related to his discipline provided by the piping/structural contractors (class2).
•Provide input to the budget preparation process relating to all piping engineering modifications (class2).
•Ensure that engineering activities / studies / stream cases are appropriately prioritised within the budget and the Stream database kept up to date with activities and progress.
•Participate in / contribute to safety studies / HAZOPS / HAZIDS / kick off meetings etc.
•Participate and help to maintain Institute accreditation of the company

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Suitable engineering qualification (Engineering Degree preferred) with appropriate engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, including offshore / site experience
•Knowledge of legislation / regulations / TEP UK & Group standards relevant to discipline
•Significant knowledge of offshore / terminal plant / equipment and maintenance systems with an understanding of process / instruments considerations
•Chartered Engineer
•Recognised level of Company expertise in technical discipline
