Senior Planner/Project Controls Engineer

The Company:
Our client is a Global Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group inside which you’ll find an incredible range of expertise and opportunity.
They offer their clients a complete range of skills and services so that they can work with their teams right from the earliest ‘ideas’ stage of their planned investments, through the study or concept selection phase, the front-end design, the EPC phase, and on into the commissioning and start-up phase.

The Role:
Key responsibilities will include being able to:
• Oversee the management of a portfolio of projects from inception to commissioning, typically ~200 small projects a year with 40 – 50 in various stages at any time.
• Review and understand all relevant documentation pertaining to the project including scope of services, project execution plan, proposal/project schedule (including manpower projection plan), conditions of contract.
• Work within the standard planning/scheduling procedures. Ensure that these procedures fulfil client requirements and develop additional project-specific procedures where necessary.
• Direct and control the work of all Planning Engineers assigned to the project.
• Liaise with other Project Control personnel as necessary.
• Ensure timely preparation and issue of all relevant Documents and ensure relevant parties input to these where appropriate.
• Analyse schedule trends and produce regular forecasts of schedule performance and issues for project review

• Contribute to the training of all disciplines in aspects of Planning and Project Controls.

Further day to day duties will include:

1. Timely preparation and issue of:-
• Overall Project Schedule Level I
• Strategic Project Schedule Level II
• Project Network Level III
• Schedule Basis Memorandum (SBM)
• Manpower Projection Plan
• Critical Equipment Lists/Schedules
• Progress 'S' Curves and tabulations

Ensure that all involved parties participate in preparation of items described above and that they agree to their respective elements and approve documents where necessary.

2. Produce current physical progress reports and job statistics.
3. Prepare and issue project action reports to Project Manager/Project Control Manager.
4. Maintain accurate schedule and control curves in an updated condition.
5. Analyse schedule trends and produce regular forecasts of schedule performance and issues for project review.
6. Providing the client with relevant monthly updated data to ensure that their corporate reporting requirements are met.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate should be self motivating and have a proven track record of planning in a multi discipline, multi project engineering environment. They will be able to work on their own initiative while still being a team player. Attention to detail, flexibility and ability to communicate with project teams at all levels are key requirements for this role.

The successful candidate shall have the following Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in use of P6 and Excel.
- Experience in planning a portfolio of projects forming an overall 1 – 3 year capital projects plan.
- Experience of multi-discipline projects during the design, engineering and construction phases.
- Knowledge of earned value progress methods.
