The Company:
Leading Nuclear Decommissioning Consultancy with offices throughout the UK. They are a major supplier to the nuclear industry working on a variety of projects for different sites.

The Role:
To support Senior Project Managers and Projects Managers in the delivery of their projects by;
Preparation of Project plans/programme(s) producing baseline scheduled tasks, resource profiles and financial models.
Management and monitoring of the project programme(s), reporting on progress and project performance using ‘Earned Value’ techniques.
Lead small teams of Planning Engineers/Junior Planning Engineers and provide coaching and training where appropriate.


Key Result Areas

1. Prepare robust tender and contract programmes from first principles using the designated planning tool that will deliver across a full project lifecycle.

2. Fully resource programmes, produce resource histograms, resource level programmes, understand and communicate the effect on programme schedules to project team.

3. Include appropriate financial data in the programme to produce a project cost/time distribution profile and communicate the results to the project team.

4. Display and analyse the project Critical Path and advise the project team of the results and any appropriate corrective action.

5. Produce/maintain project baselines and execute the change control process as appropriate.

6. Develop and implement techniques for collection (from the project team) of appropriate data for project progress.

7. Correctly record project progress in the programme (ensuring the planning software correctly calculates the data), reschedule programme to take effect of the progress data and communicate the results (schedule, resource and financial) to the project team and advise of any appropriate corrective action.

8. Produce project reports/data directly from the planning software arranging the data to align with the company accounting software.

9. Understand and report on project using Earned Value Analysis techniques and interpret/communicate the results and any corrective action to the project team.

10. Manage a portfolio of project programmes and supporting Planning Engineers/Junior Planning Engineers including supervision and checking of work to ensure that all work complies with company standards and procedures.

11. Act as mentor to Junior Planning members to assist in their personal development.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Project management/Planning techniques
• Primavera project management tool
• Can contribute to the selection of ideas and solutions for the project
• Strong working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVA) Techniques.
• Strong working knowledge of differing forms of contract including NEC3 ECC.
• Strong working knowledge and understanding of the interaction of all project controls and engineering disciplines.

• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Resilient and tenacious in pursuing the project/package scope and brief.
• Structured approach to delivery of programmes and reports.
• Most relevant Cavendish Nuclear Leadership Competencies:
Problem Solving/Decision Making, Team Working, Communication, Focus on Outcomes,

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years planning experience in a project based engineering environment using Primavera planning software.
• Supervised junior members of planning staff.
• Programme management and change management for small/medium/Large sized EPC projects.
• Worked with Project Managers to deliver successfully packages of work on major multi-disciplined projects.

• HNC or equivalent in an appropriate engineering discipline.
• Or University degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
• APM membership preferable
