The Role:
Role Synopsis:

The Sr., Planning Engineer will play an integral part in planning and delivering the business critical activities in Operations that support process and people safety, budget attainment and production enhancement.

Key Accountabilities:

• Align Operations approved budget with tasks for each department in the Level 1 plan. This will require:
o Face to face interaction with quality conversations
o Building relationships is important to the success of this deliverable
• The Sr. Planning Engineer will ensure a quality Level 1 Plan and must effectively drive it into implementation mode by:
o Ensuring that Plans have a total duration with an estimated target start dates and estimated completion dates
o Level 1 Plan shall include the identification of specialized skill sets, special tools such as hot tap machines, special permitting such as Government permits to shutdown production etc.
o When specialized resources or tooling are required in ROO, he/she will highlight this to Planners so they can review outstanding work orders to try and nest activities.
o Actively identifying and engaging with inter-and cross-departmental focal points
o Developing and embedding common processes to drive consistency in data definition and quality, timing of data capture and reporting and alignment in behaviours in junior Planners
o Proactively identify problems areas or potential conflicts and effectively solve them
o Set up meeting to provide status updates and show deviations and plans to close them out
o Promptly reply to notes and requests professionally
• The current Level 1 plan will include Planning Milestones for each department:
o Ops departmental managers will define their milestones
o Milestone examples: Long lead materials procured and/or at site and/or MTO completion, completion for all Engineering packs or critical Engineering packs, Operations PSSR and/or Training, Maintenance tags and/or PM creation.
o The Sr. Planning Engineer will document the milestones and track performance against them using BP’s “Plan Attainment/Schedule” methodology
o The Sr. Planning will report monthly Plan/Schedule Attainment with commentary on reasons for deviations and interventions to get back on track or to minimise further delays (to be delivered on the 3rd working day after month end).
o The monthly Planning Performance report will be submitted to the Operations Performance Manager who will independently assess planning performance and will integrate feedback into Operations monthly reporting and Performance management systems
• Above and beyond the Activity Planning piece that the Sr. Planning is accountable to deliver, He/She is expected to play a pivotal role from a planning perspective with the following:
o Demonstrate continuous improvement in Put on Production times for New Well Delivery. The KPI in 2015 is a PoP time of < 50 days.
o Play a role in making visible activity sets that mitigate against identified business and process safety risks such as Buried pipelines, Crash Valves, PVS and Produced Water Disposal. Although already a part of the AOP, these must be segregated to feed seamlessly into the Process Safety Forums and Risk Management Process in Operations.
o Play an active role in identifying and highlighting activity sets that lead to production gains or loss reductions – this could be jumper fabrications/installation choke upsizing, flowline repairs, new flow lines, slot allocations, new ESP installations, flow packs & coil tubing schedules, tracking and expending MoC’s etc. This activity set must be specifically prepared and seamlessly fed into the Loss Management process.
o The planning function must be open to the fact that prevailing business challenges will create changes. The Sr. Planning engineer must be open to being redirected to, for example, supporting Maintenance outages or TAR’s because of resource constraints

o Perhaps the best tool in the tool box is a positive attitude and high energy drive
o Knowledge of an MoC process
