The Company:
Our client is probably best known for making engines for the world’s biggest airliners and advanced military aircraft along with producing low-emission power systems for ships, making critical equipment and safety systems for the nuclear industry and, power offshore platforms and major pipelines for the oil and gas industry. They are actively seeking to recruit a high calibre Senior Project Manager to join their team based in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Role:
As the Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for the management of strategically critical LTSA and ESol projects within Central Asia delivering scheduled maintenance, major overhauls and other in-service support services to maximise plant availability and reliability. You will have full operational and financial accountability for your assigned projects and will be responsible for developing successful long-term relationships with customers in the region by fully understanding their organisational, commercial and operational needs.

You will be commercially and strategically astute and able to leverage maximum project value and benefit while driving continual improvement in customer satisfaction and financial perform

You will manage and develop multi-disciplinary project teams within a matrix organisation, and will demonstrate strong leadership qualities and excellent interpersonal skills. This role will require management of complex stakeholder arrangements with continually changing project scopes and timescales resulting in a complex and dynamic project environment.

Experience in large scale rotating equipment will be required for this role.


Leadership and Management of extended Asset Project Team’s with accountability for the successful delivery of the customer Programme
Primary accountability for satisfaction of customer requirements and fulfilment of key project deliverables
Accountability for contractual compliance
Programme P&L responsibility with focus on reliable cost and revenue forecasting as well as opportunity identification and realisation
Optimisation of A&R delivery through the development of specific initiatives and improvement plans
Continuous team performance improvement through management of critical KPI’s
Development and management of a successful project execution strategy across the Asset Project Teams to maximise project benefits and objectives
Create and develop a progressive leadership framework within the Project Team to optimise performance and responsiveness

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Key Experience

5-10 years in a progressive Lead Project or Programme Management position
Previous overseas posting
Strong understanding and track record of leading multi cultural project teams
Management experience with both direct and indirect reports in a matrix type organisation
Demonstrable Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture

Key Competencies Requirement

High customer focus and passion for delivery customer satisfaction
Strong financial competence through P&L management
Ability to understand and analyse project RIO’s via Risk Management tools
Detailed knowledge of Scope and Change Management techniques
Demonstrable track record of successful complex project execution within an Oil & Gas or Power Generation context.

Education Required

University degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
Professional Project Management qualification equivalent to IMPA Level D
