The Company:

The Role:
As a senior member of the NSL Project Management Team, the role will focus on ensuring that the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance are achieved, monitored & maintained and to drive continuous improvement on the NSN UK project.

This includes managing the HSE aspects of the project design and engineering with Ludvika, Sweden, Design work in UK, Management of Subcontractors in UK and site activities in Blyth. Additional duties include providing environmental lead for NSL project.

Primary contact with the client on HSE issues and discussions.
Primary contact with the Subcontractors on HSE issues and discussions.
Regularly update of the HSE documentation & processes consistent with Legislation.
Conduct HAZIDs.
Ensure Design Decisions Log (DDL) reflect the safety in design considerations and is regularly updated.
Define, document, maintain and continuously improve the project documentation and perform lessons learnt.
Provide cost effective specialist HSE support and advice to project delivery teams throughout the project life cycle and, if required, the tendering team.
Define and maintain the training & competency records for NSL project team.
Provide internal service for audit of projects and suppliers to monitor performance & identify areas for improvement.
Lead on the development of HSE performance improvement strategies and campaigns linked to key project objectives & targets for implementation internally & through supply chain partners.
Produce monthly HSE KPIs and management information for review and action by NSN project management team.
Undertake incident/accident analysis and ensure timely completion of accident/incident reports
Lead the health, safety and environmental initiatives for the NSL project and support the team for environmental initiatives
Promote occupational health on the project
Train/organize training, conduct assessment and make team members ready to undertake activities in accordance with the IMS requirements

Skills / Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills and professional conduct.
HSE professional with major design and construction project experience.
Hands on site safety supervision experience
Qualified to Diploma level in Environmental Management: Optional
Qualified to Diploma level in H&S Management
Strong organisational & communication skills
Conversant with relevant ISO & OHSAS standards
Working knowledge and practical experience of environmental regulations
Suitably qualified and experienced in the operation & management of business management systems
Chartered member of relevant professional bodies (e.g. IOSH)
Computer literate & proficient IT skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
HV power systems experience
Experience in the Line Management and development of staff
