The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
My client is looking to recruit an experience Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial direction, strategic leadership and commercial support to a variety of large scale project teams. The successful candidate must ensure that commercial discipline is maintained throughout all project delivery phases. The role will also involve providing guidance and fostering the development of all project staff on commercial issues. Working with clients, consortium partners and supply chain on effective administration of NEC forms of contract.

Key duties will include:

• Establish and develop processes and controls to provide the necessary commercial service to allow the business and its Consortium partners to fulfill their contractual obligations regarding notices and valuations as prescribed by various forms of contract and subcontract.
• Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record change etc.
• Develop a strategy for the defense/application of contractual claims.
• Provide advise the consortium team during claim negotiations
• Provide commercial reporting to Project Teams and Senior Management
• Establish and maintain cost and valuation reporting procedures
• Establish, develop and maintain contract administration procedures
• Negotiate and settle claims and final accounts
• Initiate and maintain a means of contractual understanding within Project Teams.
• Ensure the performance of the QSs are managed effectively, and development/training needs are identified appropriately through interaction with responsible line managers.
• Identify potential staff recruitment, which may become necessary from time to time, and to liaise with appropriate Head of Department as appropriate.
• Recognise customer requirements and manage their expectations at all times to ensure customer satisfaction at point of delivery/enquiry, to ensure full exposure of the business's product portfolio.
• Support the tendering and SCM teams by ensuring appropriate terms and conditions are understood and applied to all tenders, sub-contracts and equipment suppliers

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Recognised qualification to at least HNC standard, preferably to MRICS or equivalent.
• Several years experience of Quantity Surveying in Power Distribution, Utilities or M&E
• Experience of NEC3, FIDIC and interpreting client adapted forms of standard forms of contract.
• Experience of successfully defending and compiling large and complicated claims
• Experience in monthly cost/value reporting and cash flow management both with clients and supply chain.
• Experience in preparation and presentation of compensation events and claims.
• Computer literacy – Minimum Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Experience of developing, leading and motivating a team of quantity surveyors team
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Experience of collaborative working and strong communication skills both in partnership with Clients, and in liaising with the various specialist functions within a business
