The Company:
Our client is a Multinational Chemical company responsible for the Construction, Ownership and Operation of it's own Plants.

The Role:
• Possesses specialized level of technical/ industrial expertise, typically through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
• May provide informal technical guidance (in own technical discipline) or coordinate the work of others - but not as a supervisor.
• 8-11 years' experience in similar technical/ industrial field of work

The purpose of this job is to provide technical support services for refractory/chemical resistant masonry, fireproofing, and technical ceramics applications for capital projects and maintenance.

1. Ensure compliance to specifications and codes on fabrication of process equipment in vendor shops.
2. Provide technical support for refractory, ceramics, chemical resistant masonry, and cementitious fireproofing during design, construction, start-up and normal operations.
3. Provides assistance with material selection, troubleshooting, failure analysis, to determine solutions, scopes of repair, repair versus replace decisions and installation
4. Troubleshoot failures including inspections, calculating thermal profiles, performing physical testing, and reviewing operating procedures.
5. Provide repair procedures or pre-determined procedures and details of installation/fabrication when required.
6. Design linings and/or provide technical review for new equipment (acid columns, furnaces, THROX's, TOX's, and kilns)
7. Provide technical support to develop and/or approve repair procedures and witness points on equipment repairs.
8. Determine application/job specifications.
1. Develop cost estimates for repair or project work.
2. Evaluate vendor shops to identify best equipment repair facilities and repair strategies.
3. Assist in out of service inspections for equipment, or in coordinating with operating plants to schedule inspections, repairs or modifications.
4. Perform shop and field inspections for repair or project work.
5. Document inspections and repairs/modifications of plant equipment, and maintain equipment records.
6. Responsible for refractory stocking spare materials
7. Perform failure analysis through investigation of refractory failures and make repair recommendations.
8. Evaluate / Recommend refractory for compatibility with processes.
9. Maintain compatibility records of acceptable materials.
10. Provide technical support for material specifications and selection.
11. Coordinate with parent company and / or licensor to ensure Sadara specifications are updated with applicable changes.
12. Evaluate all refractory equipment aspects of engineering to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability, and operability are met.
13. Interface with other engineering disciplines/departments, customers and vendors/suppliers to ensure successful development and execution of projects.
14. Develop scope and material take offs to support project estimates
15. Develop, monitor and manage work hour estimates and resources to meet project schedule requirements
16. Prepare specifications for construction contracts
17. Provide engineering field support on construction projects
18. Ensures that environmental regulations and Safety and Loss Prevention principles are considered in design.
19. Coordinate with parent company and / or licensor to ensure Sadara specifications are updated with applicable changes.
20. Evaluate all refractory equipment aspects of engineering to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability, and operability are met.
21. Interface with other engineering disciplines/departments, customers and vendors/suppliers to ensure successful development and execution of projects.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Two-year associate’s Technical Degree
• 8-11 years experience in similar technical/ industrial field of work
• Or 10-14 years related experience is required.
• Ability to speak and write English required. Ability to speak and write Arabic preferred.
• API 936 Inspection & Testing
• Blue Print Reading
• Refractory/chemical resistant masonry, fireproofing, and technical ceramics applications
• A firm understanding of equipment standards, specifications, design criteria, philosophies, strategies, Loss Prevention Principles, and Approved Suppliers List.
• Knowledge of applicable design codes and repair methods.
