The Role:
The Sr. Reliability Engineer position is responsible for overseeing the corporate reliability programs interacting with all of the worldwide Business Units to identify and manage asset reliability and production risks that could adversely affect operations. The Sr. Reliability Engineer position accomplishes this task through advising/consulting and monitoring of Business Unit performance in a wide variety of producing environments from low rate gas wells to high rate offshore wells ensuring that reliability and production efficiency is integrated into proposed new projects along with maintaining reliability and production efficiencies in existing operating facilities by providing operational support and assisting in the trouble shooting of major field problems. The position will be located in San Antonio and will report to the Production Engineering Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide production engineering technical consulting, advisement, monitoring and trouble shooting on worldwide assets both onshore and offshore developments. Will also participate in integrated evaluation and planning of field developments to ensure life of well performance is included in the development planning process.
• Provide technical analysis and recommendations on artificial lift including rod pumps, ESP’s, gas lift, plunger lift, hydraulic and progressive cavity pumps.
• Advise on chemical treating of wells and surface facilities, and some water management and solids management operations.
• Provide analysis and technical assistance to our assets on data acquisition for monitoring and diagnosis of well performance.
• Works closely with project engineering to ensure reliability and maintainability is engineered into the design of new and modified installations of equipment and facilities.
• Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines operations and maintenance plans to include value added preventive maintenance and operator tasks along with predictive and testing methodologies designed to identify inherent reliability and production problems.
• Participates and leads in RCFA’s and is responsible for developing engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations and equipment
• Provides oversight and administration of Knowledge Management systems, ensures any ‘lessons learned’ are both captured and communicated to all relevant personnel and that they are documented and accessible for future benefit. Similarly, communicate to ‘lessons learned’ from other business assets thereby ensuring that all pertinent knowledge is shared.
• Establish working relationships with major equipment vendors and technical resources to ensure the company can leverage their position for improved production efficiency, support and reliability.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Education: Petroleum, or equivalent, engineering degree required.
• Experience: 10+ years of upstream E&P experience.
• Communication: Excellent oral and written communications, teamwork, planning & organizational skills.
• Computer: Proficiency with the Microsoft suite products including: Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Training will be provided as appropriate for TOW (production data management), Aries (production forecasting), Access, SCADA and other software as deemed value-added. Experience with LOWIS, SROD and eVIN is preferred.
• Travel: 20% travel to local fields
