The Role:
Senior Safety Engineer Subject Matter Expert on Safety & Ergonomics issues and processes. Primary point of contact with local H&S regulatory authorities at Bridgend. Contribute to the organization to ensure, health and safety is integrated as an essential part of the business Support the development and implementation of safety & ergonomics audits Work closely with the local H&S Committee to ensure that it is the cornerstone of current H&S management. Review / approve new or modified layouts, machinery or processes ensuring safety during the full life cycle of the plant and equipment. Ensure effective accident / incident investigation, reporting, and identification / implementation of countermeasures to prevent recurrence. Collect analyse and report accident / incident data and propose / implement reduction strategies. Support the activities of a Local Ergonomics Committee. Be a role model and promote safe working and safe behaviours Interface to the occupational health, toxicology and occupational hygiene functions to ensure compliance with health and occupational hygiene processes Coordinate the Risk Assessment process to identify hazards and reduce risks. Implement standard formats incorporating best practice from FoB and Global standards. Identify safety training needs and develop suitable training action plans. Ensure plant / equipment compliance with approval process and notification to inspecting bodies. Ensure the reporting (external and internal) is coordinated efficiently and compliant with all H&S processes. Identify areas of opportunity from SOS self assessments and implement opportunities for improvement. Coordinate arrangements for internal and external contractor health and safety performance. Provide direction and guidance to the Safety Technicians who support this role.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
NEBOSH Level 6 Health & Safety Diploma
Strong interpersonal skills with professional safety experience and qualifications.
Genuine interest and passion for safety.
Strong leadership with the ability to coach and mentor safety colleagues.
Determined attitude to drive improvement in safety culture at Bridgend Technical capability to translate current safety legislation into company policy and procedures and ability to research material as required.
Professional safety experience and qualifications. Proven track record of improving safety culture and metrics in a manufacturing environment.
NEBOSH Level 6 Health & Safety Diploma

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the automotive manufacturing business would be an advantage.
