The Company:
My Client is an international oil and gas company who pride themselves in being amongst the leaders in developing solutions tailored to meet the North Sea challenges. Their Innovative application of advanced seismic processing techniques as part of a comprehensive state-of-the-art reservoir characterization, combined with ultra long horizontal drilling (up to 12 kilometres) as well as completion and stimulation technology of the horizontal wells.

The Role:
*Show leadership in accordance with the APMM values and MO incident free program
*Support a working culture based on respect for health, safety and environmental issues and maintenance of a high level of asset integrity.
*Build strong internal networks with other departments in UK and other parties as appropriate.
*Provision of safety engineering support and advice to operational and project personnel within the UK Assets to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry good practice and Maersk Oil standards (local and corporate).
*Facilitation of and participation in safety engineering risk management activities (HAZID, HAZOP, QRAs, etc.).
*Facilitation of Operational Risk Assessments (ORAs) and preparation of associated documentation.
*Lead in-house safety engineering studies (including ALARP Reviews, Design Safety Reviews, Risk Assessments, specialist studies, etc.) and preparation of reports/technical notes for same.
*Support the Safety Engineering Technical Authority in ensuring that the installation Safety Cases are maintained up to date and in managing Thorough Reviews.
*Support the Safety Engineering Technical Authority in maintaining key discipline documentation (e.g. performance standards, procedures, studies, drawings).
*Ensure compliance with the facilities modifications processes, address findings from audits and reviews (e.g. regulatory inspections, verification), respond to Technical Queries and participate in incident investigations, as requested.
*Manage work undertaken by external safety consultants and review of deliverables.
*Responsible for the provision of safety engineering work scopes to contractors, including statements of requirements and schedules for work programmes.
*Work with relevant interfaces to ensure that discipline input to Integrated Activity Plan activities are identified in a timely manner.
*Participate in development of technical solutions and their delivery within budget and to the agreed outcome.
*Deputise for Safety Engineering TA during periods of absence.
*Within Safety Engineering, the development, maintenance and on-going improvement of engineering discipline and technical standards, management systems and procedures that ensure the protection and effective utilisation of Maersk Oil's assets and reputation.
*Contribute to good, open communication within the Facilities & Projects department, promoting a culture of involvement and participation and adherence to company values.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
*Appropriate Bachelors degree with Honours in engineering (e.g. Safety, Process, Chemical) or a scientific discipline (e.g. Mathematics) and preferably a Chartered Engineer.
*Extensive relevant experience in an operational, engineering or project role within the Oil & Gas industry.
*Able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of UK Safety Case Regulations and relevant statutory provisions, together with codes, standards and industry guidance.
*Proven experience in the use of Safety Engineering design and assessment methods.
*Good understanding of offshore operations, for both fixed and floating installations, and appreciation of the Major Accident Hazards.
*Knowledge of associated technical/engineering disciplines.
*Ability to develop positive relationships with peers and stakeholders internally and externally.
*Ability to prioritise tasks within a diverse range of activities, and directing team focus, to deliver key business objectives.
