The Company:
Our Client is one of the world's largest Oil and Gas companies. Their operations cover the entire energy chain, including oil exploration and production to trading, shipping and refining and marketing of petroleum products, as well as chemicals. Our Client has operations in over 130 countries and has more than 95,000 employees worldwide.

The Role:
•Co-ordinate and control a package of Safety Engineering and activities within the Project environment, and ensure that they are carried out in accordance with Company standards, procedures and statutory requirements.
•Maintain highly effective communication links with Project Team members, other Company contacts, key contractor representatives and the Health & Safety Executive.
•Assist the assigned Project Managers / Engineers in the management of projects from a Safety Engineering and company perspective.
•Ensure that legislative and Company safety, health and environment rules and standards are met and that the activities comply with the standards and commitments contained within Company Safety Cases and Management System documentation.

•Act as a review authority for the companies safety design documents.
•Liaise with the company department as required.
•Ensure Contractors’ deliverables are in accordance with contractual requirements and the approved “Statement of Requirements”, to ensure all company standards are met regarding HSE matters.
•Ensure that design meets Company and Group rules (Maestro, Safety Management System), and are in line with current regulations (DCR, PFEER, etc.)
•Ensuring Derogations are approved where company referential will not be met.
•Support for complex non routine construction activities (hook up).
•Ensuring engineering contractor identifies impact of modifications on Safety Cases.
•Acting as interface between project and Safety Engineering Function who coordinate Safety Case Revisions.
•Chairing and attending HAZOPs, HAZIDs, HIRAs and Risk Assessments.
•Provide support for Occupational Safety issues, and instigating and participating in safety initiatives within projects.
•Attending Engineering Contractor monthly progress meetings to review safety performance.
•Monitoring contractor and company site reports for projects related incidents and ensuring that these are included in safety engineering issues closed out accordingly.
•Organising Committee Meetings.
•Provide HSE input to Project Weekly and Monthly Reports.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Experienced in a safety engineering role with specific experience of the offshore project and operations environment.
•Engineering degree in a relevant discipline, and ideally with a professional qualification in safety (eg NEBOSH certificate or equivalent)
•Knowledge of process safety, QRA.
•Familiar with relevant legislation. National and International Codes & Standards Experience in incident investigation and analysis using a systematic methodology (eg Root Cause Analysis).
•Experience of carrying out audits of safety procedures (SIMOPS, permit etc).
•Experience writing procedures and bridging documents.
•Offshore Survival Certificate plus MIST.
•Offshore Medical Certificate.
