The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

The Role:
To provide technical support to projects in the Process Automation Division and the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industries. This will include working as a dedicated Safety Engineer, in a senior capacity, on various project.

Normal working week is 37 hours in a modern office environment. Some overtime is expected, if this is required to meet project objectives.

The position is to work within the Safety System Team and reports to the Safety Execution Centre Manager.

Key duties include:
• Supporting projects with respect to engineering the logic solver subsystem for the Safety Instrument System (the Safety System). This may be as a member of the project team or acting in an lead role.
• Ensure that all work is performed according to the appropriate clauses associated with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 related to System Integration, and within the framework of the certified Functional Safety Management System.
• Review client documentation and develope the Safety System Functional Design Specification and Detailed Design Specifications.
• Authoring and Reviewing Safety-related Project Documentation
• Produce / review Safety System Hardware drawings
• Specify Safety System hardware including 3rd Party equipment to the required SIL
• Produce / review Project Application codes
• Author and review Test Specifications
• Participate in Module, Integrated, Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance Tests
• Review Test results
• Ensure the Safety System is configured to specification, within the cost and schedule required by the contract.
• Manage internal and external changes
• Produce SIL achievement reports
• Meet with clients in connection with the above activities.
• Attend Functional Safety Audits and Assessments
• Training will be provided to those wishing to become TUV FSEng

The majority of work will be within the Engineering Facility at St Neots. However,
• Periods of time at clients’ offices may be required during specification phases.
• Periods of time may be required commissioning either on- or offshore.
• International travel may be required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Should be qualified to Honours level in an appropriate engineering discipline or have demonstrated that they have worked in a similar position for a minimum of 5 years.
• CEng would be an advantage
• TUV FSEng would be an advantage but training will be provided
• A minimum of 5 years working in Safety System Integration, including similar duties to those described above
• A minimum of 5 years working in the process industry sector, with experience in Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals an advantage
• Should have been an Engineer on at least 2 safety-related projects, preferably in a lead role.
• Good Word 2003 / 2007 (at least one) skills are a requirement
• Good Excel 2003 / 2007 (at least one) skills are a requirement
• Should have experience working with engineering databases
• Must have experience / knowledge of industrial standards and guidelines, including, as appropriate, IEC, ISA, ATEX, EEMUA, etc
