The Company:
The client is a leader within the Automation and Control Systems field with operations in 100 countries worldwide. They specialise in providing integrated solutions to the Transmission and Distribution and Oil & Gas industry with projects offshore and overseas.

As a result of continued growth they are looking to recruit a number of Senior Safety Engineers to join their team on long term contract roles.

The Role:
The Senior Safety Engineer will support projects with respect to engineering the logic solver subsystem for the Safety Instrument System (the Safety System). This may be as a member of the project team or acting in an lead role.

It is expected that the Senior Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all work is performed according to the appropriate clauses associated with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 related to System Integration, and within the framework of the certified Functional Safety Management System.

The Senior Safety Engineer will conduct the reviewing client documentation and developing the Safety System Functional Design - Specification and Detailed Design Specifications.

The following tasks will be a regular part of the Senior Safety Engineer role;

• Authoring and Reviewing Safety-related Project Documentation.
• Producing / reviewing Safety System Hardware Drawing.
• Specifying Safety System hardware including 3rd Party equipment to the required SIL.
• Producing / reviewing Project Application code.
• Authoring and Reviewing Test Specifications.
• Participating in Module, Integrated, Factory Acceptance and Site Acceptance Tests.
• Reviewing Test Results.
• Ensuring the Safety System is configured to specification, within the cost and schedule required by the contract.
• Managing internal and external changes.
• Producing SIL Achievement Reports.
• Meeting with clients in connection with the above activities.
• Attending Functional Safety Audits and Assessments.
• Training will be given to those wishing to become TUV FSEng so this is an excellent opportunity for those wishing to progress

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Candidates for the Senior Safety Engineer role should be qualified to Honours level in an appropriate engineering discipline or have demonstrated that they have worked in a similar position.

Experience of working in Safety System Integration, including similar duties to those described above is essential for all applicants to the Senior Safety Engineer role

The Senior Safety Engineer will have experience of working in the process industry sector, with experience in Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals an advantage.

It is anticipated that the Senior Safety Engineer will have previous experience as an Engineer on at least 2 safety-related projects, preferably in a lead role.
-Good Word 2003 / 2007 (at least one) skills are a requirement.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience with the ABB 800xA and / or the Advant Platforms would be advantageous but is not essential for applicants to the Senior Safety Engineer role.

-CEng would be an advantage
-TUV FSEng would be an advantage but training will be provided
