Senior Specialist Construction Lead

Key Accountabilities
• Administer a site office in the Shipbuilder’s Construction Yard.
• Establish and implement appropriate procedures and working practices to ensure that the supervision of the construction, outfitting and commissioning of the vessels and the subsequent reporting of the same are correctly administered and documented in accordance with the Design and Construction Execution Plan (PEP).
• Ensure the safety and welfare of the resident site supervision team, ship's staff, visiting superintendents, inspectors and other client's personnel and contractors.
• Lead and coordinate resident and visiting superintendents and inspectors to ensure that construction supervision activities are conducted in accordance with established procedures and working practices.
• Liase with the Shipbuilder, S HSE Advisor and site team HSE Superintendents/Inspectors to provide a safe working environment and ensure that all construction and site supervision activities are conducted in accordance with client's HSE expectations.
• Ensure that the construction and outfitting of the vessels comply with the requirements of the Contract, Contract Specification, approved drawings, the HSSE Plan, the Quality Plan and recognised shipbuilding practice.
• Ensure any changes which could impact the specification, design, schedule or budget are identified and promulgated to the appropriated project technical team discipline lead(s).
• Liaise with the Shipbuilder and where necessary, local Classification Society and Certifying Authority surveyors on issues which may effect safe operations, finished quality, delivery or certification of the vessel and ensure their satisfactory resolution.
• In conjunction with the Delivery Superintendent (or other designated vessel operator's representative), ensure that on delivery the vessel is ready for sea with all systems operational, in a fit state to load cargo and with sufficient stores, spare gear and consumables on board.
• Act as Owner's representative at the delivery of the vessel(s) to ensure that the delivery process is completed in accordance with agreed legal and commercial procedures and all documentation is correctly completed and handed over.
• Provide the vessel's operators with all relevant information including construction, test and inspection records on delivery of the vessel and details of any outstanding defects to be included in the guarantee process.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Essential:
• Engineering degree or Class 1 Certificate of Competence
• Experience as Site Construction Manager or Lead Superintendent in a construction supervision role
• Sound marine technical knowledge and experience in ship operation and/or ship construction
• Proven track record in HSSE leadership
• Excellent communication skills and an ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment
• Membership of a professional body e.g. IMarEST, RINA
