Senior Staff Geologist

The Role:
•Perform regional and prospect specific geological studies resulting in the generation of drillable prospects within West Africa licenses
•Work closely with geophysicists, engineers, management, partners and government to ensure the best prospects are identified and quantified.
•Incorporate commercial and strategic thinking into technical evaluation.
•Continuously update suitable play analysis for our blocks and the region.
•Use regional evaluations to recommend areas of interest, around our existing blocks

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Education:
•Degree in Geoscience. Second degree is helpful
•Oil Industry Training courses relevant to main aspects of oil and gas exploration

Experience:
•Minimum 10 years exploration and production geosciences experience, mostly operating, with reputable company.
•Experience working in W. Africa preferred but not essential

Qualifications:
•Demonstrated ability to generate exploration ideas and follow them through to drilling
•Understanding of the Petroleum System components for exploration
•Knowledge and experience of interpreting deepwater depositional systems
•Exploration experience, Deepwater experience, Turbidites or Clastics, preferably but not absolutely West Africa experience
•Exposure to, and reporting of, ongoing drilling operations
•Preferably some exposure to appraisal and/or development projects
•Understanding of geological techniques including rock and fluid analysis
•Well-log interpretation software, contouring packages and volumetric calc
