The Company:
Our Client is a major contractor providing consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world's energy, power and process industries. They are the leading Contracting Company to the Oil and Gas Industry in the UK.

The Role:
To deliver the safety studies required to ensure that projects and particular change proposals carried out by the delivery team for clients who have the associated risks reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable and at least meet current legislative requirements.
To act as the safety engineering and verification focal point for particular modification and design jobs carried out by the delivery design team.

Key aims and objectives

• Perform safety screening for change proposal designs so that design team know what is required and why.
• Initiate measures to reduce the risks associated with the design to ALARP.
• Produce various safety engineering (and legislative compliance) studies under the instruction (with minimal guidance) of the Principal Safety Engineer.

Prime responsibilities and duties:

• Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract.
• Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance.
• Carry out work in accordance with Client and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems.
• Identify foreseeable hazards for asset modifications so that appropriate studies can be completed.
• Review multi-discipline documents to ensure ALARP designs have been adopted.
• Conduct risk assessments and risk reviews in accordance with existing procedures.
• Represent the safety team at kick-off meetings, progress and design review meetings for the project or change proposal designs.
• Preparation of CTR estimates for the safety engineering studies.
• Delivering quality, cost effective and timely engineering services in a demanding environment of change, short interval planning and conflicting priorities.
• Reporting progress against schedule to the Principal Safety Engineer.
