The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
Primarily to take ownership of vehicle interior fabrics cost estimating (PCE) and cost engineering (TVM). The role exists to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities on current and future vehicles. The role requires someone with commercial, engineering and project management experience from either Automotive or another industry that utilises fabrics.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
•Understanding of company design, engineering & marketing requirements and their associated cost drivers from the supply base.
•Understanding of current cost models and cost estimating procedures.
•Lead supplier workshops and support negotiation with suppliers.
•As well as ownership of interior fabrics, flexibility to development and project manage multiple interior trim engineering initiatives, with the specific aim of reducing the cost of the bought out component / assembly.
•To design, develop and investigate new engineering lead cost reduction proposals - Identification of new VA/VE ideas through supplier based workshops, leading teardown events, benchmarking and internal consultation.
•Manage projects within a cross functional team including PD, Purchasing, Quality and Cost Estimating departments.
•Develop, manage and present detailed timing plans to agreed deadlines.
•Agree and execute appropriate DFMEA and DVP requirements for all projects involving significant design change.
•Introduction of engineering changes onto current car, following company standard processes.
•Maintain effective internal & external communication with other departments & suppliers.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications & Experience
•Experience of working with Leather and other soft trim materials.
•Experience of vehicle Interior Trim components – Knowledge of plastic moulding, fabric cutting, assembly, chrome and painted finishes and composite materials.
•Experience with PPAP/SPAP would be advantageous.
•Educated to Engineering Degree level or equivalent.
•2 years plus experience within automotive product development, ideally with responsibility for a range of components.
•Good general commercial awareness, ideally with some negotiating experience.
•Self motivated, with ability to motivate others to achieve personal objectives.
•Passionate about continuous improvement, especially in context of cost reduction and personal development.
•Experience of cost reduction initiatives, tools and techniques desirable.
•Experienced user of Microsoft Office.
•The successful candidate must be a team player and be able to work closely within a small team.
