The Role:
The Senior Well Engineer position has overall responsibility for well engineering on a project and requires both detailed and broad well engineering and operations knowledge including the ability to design wells for a wide range of well types and different rig operations.

The Senior Well Engineer is typically expected to supervise and mentor more junior Well Engineers on a project and requires management skills in addition to technical competency.

Reports to the Project Manager or to the Well Engineering Manager
Reports functionally to the ASA Well Engineering Manager.
Typically has Well Engineers for several rigs reporting to him/her (except on a single string project).
Acts as a mentor to other Well Engineers.

Prepare the Well Proposal and Basis of Design and follows the execution of programs technically
Prepare Well Programs and End-of-Well reports
Prepare well operations procedures e.g. Casing running and cementing
Participates in selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment
Ensures proper communication with relevant parties (client, segments, third parties, etc)
Participates in cost control of programs Vs AFE by analyzing solutions.
Assures Technical Integrity of Well Operations programs.
Prepares project well control briefing
Reviews new technology for possible application to project
Uses InTouch (proprietary Client software) for best practices, lessons learned and technical alerts
Ensures best practices and lessons learned are transferred between all rigs on a project
Approves invoices for service companies
Deputize for Project Manager as required
Participates and Lead Risk Analysis and hazard Control sections with multi-disciplinary team
Ensures compliance to Client Standards and Procedures
Reviews requests for exemptions to Standards in QUEST Platform (Client software)
Reviews Quality Incident reports resulting from well operations in QUEST
Participates in and leads Service Quality investigations
Reviews and approves Management of Change to well programs

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Expertise on Drilling and Completions operations
Offshore operations exposure (subsea environment such as jackup, semi-subs or drill-ships)
Horizontal well drilling and Geosteering

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Chalk reservoir drilling
North Sea exposure
Multilateral well operations
Extended reach drilling wells
Multi-stage stimulation operations
