The Role:
PURPOSE
This job specification details the requirements for the role of Settlements Officer, reporting directly to the Settlements Manager.

PRIMARY ROLE OBJECTIVES
Working predominantly with the Settlements Manager to ensure the accurate and timely settlement of all gas and electricity transactions, industry settlements and allocations.

MAJOR DUTIES
To provide administrative duties including the inputting of industry prices and production of trade confirmations for use by the Settlements department.
To assist in the accurate & timely processing, settlement and billing of all trading gas and power transactions. To include the accurate & timely investigation and reconciliation of all commercial and operational data.
To assist in the accurate & timely processing & validations for settlement service customers. To include the accurate & timely investigation and reconciliation of all commercial and operational data
To assist in the accurate & timely processing & settlement of the Gas Plant Commercial Arrangements.
To use, support and assist in the development, review & implementation of models, tools, policies, processes & procedures, to support and enhance business activities and opportunities in the short, medium and long term.
As required, undertakes ad hoc projects, including specialist projects.
To positively represent the Settlements department, the work and services it provides to both internal and external personnel.
To develop and maintain effective and supportive working relationships with other members.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential - A Level or equivalent educated
Desirable - Degree qualified or studying in a related subject. E.G. Finance, Business Studies, Economics, etc.

EXPERIENCE
Essential - Relevant business experience in a finance or commercial environment
Desirable - Power generation operational knowledge, work experience and contribution.
Gas plant generation operational knowledge, work experience and contribution.

KNOWLEDGE
Desirable - Commercial awareness of the UK energy markets, organisations, legislation and regulations.
Proven capability to carry out and apply complex calculations and numerical applications.

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE
Essential - Proficiency to intermediate level in Microsoft Office suite and able to produce relevant documentation. Desirable - Proficiency to Advanced level in Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint

Essential - Committed to self-development. Undertakes appropriate development activities
