The Company:
The company designs, constructs, transports, installs and removes offshore facilities for the global oil and gas industry. During the last decades they have become a significant international player in the offshore oil and gas construction industry. The Group consists of two divisions, each with a specific role in the activities of the Group

The Role:
Reports to - Head of SHE

Liaises with - Yard Director, Other Local SHE Managers, Project Managers and Discipline Managers
Directs - Departmental Personnel

Function:
To manage and co-ordinate the yard SHE Department to raise awareness of SHE issues and where necessary, instigate actions to promote continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
• To ensure adherence to Company Policy and procedures.
• To develop SHE guidelines and procedures in cooperation with the Head of SHE
• To ensure correct implementation of the SHE Policy and procedures at the yard.
• Liaison with Governmental authorities concerning SHE matters.
• To review new legislation regarding safety, health and environment for impact on daily activities.
• To advise where required, concerning SHE matters.
• To participate in SHE group meetings
• To liaise with and maintain good communication lines with Clients
• To liaise with and maintain good communication lines with the Yard Director
• To identify possible SHE problems, prevent escalation, and recommend possible solutions
• To promote SHE awareness
• To arrange, in consultation with the Yard Director and Head of SHE, internal instruction and information sessions.
• To review and approve all system documentation related to his discipline.
• To ensure that procedures are maintained.
• To ensure that frequent observation rounds are carried out and reported
• To investigate incidents and accidents and report accordingly.
• To contribute to the yearly Environmental statement
• Safety, health and environmental awareness (e.g. responsible for own and others safety).
• To develop the department Safety, Environmental & Social Responsibility strategies.
• To represent company locally in all SHE matters.
• To co-ordinate the SHE activities locally.
• To evaluate the extent and adequacy of existing basic procedures and define the need for development of new procedures.
• To monitor and document Safety and Environmental performance against stated objectives in conjunction with the SHE department.
• To arrange adequate training for departmental personnel.

Authority:
• Unrestricted access to perform internal SHE audits and inspections.
• To delegate tasks under their responsibility.
• To approve timesheets, holidays and expenses.
• Authorisation levels as detailed in GP-04-01.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Competency Requirements:
• Successful SHE Induction.
• Engineering Materials Science or equivalent qualification.
• Qualified in audit techniques.
• SHE experience within a heavy fabrication environment.
• A detailed understanding of company Safety, Health & Environmental systems, programmes & philosophies and Corporate & Social Responsibility philosophy.
• Communicate in a positive manner with subordinate staff and other departmental managers.
• Planning & Organisational skills that enable the implementation of the company strategy.
