The Role:
POSITION TITLE: SUB-PROJECT SHE LEAD
DESCRIPTION: PROJECT POSITION

REPORTS TO: Subproject Manager (Direct), Construction SHE manager (Indirect)
Supervises: Site SHE Advisors
MAIN FUNCTIONS
• Advises and informs Subproject Manager on SHE issues, status and metrics.
• Ensure development and proper implementation of adequate control processes within the subproject PMT, as stipulated in the Project Execution Plan and Project SHE Plan.
• Develop Subproject SHE Audit Schedule, conduct site SHE audits within sub-project and assist SPM in conduct of project audits, as needed.
• Evaluate and monitor implementation of contractor’s SHE management systems.
• Monitor, investigate, identify and resolve subproject SHE issues, evaluate SHE Metrics, and provide reports to responsible line management, SPM and Construction SHE Manager, as required.
• Provide PMT SHE training as stipulated in the Project SHE Plan and as required within the PMT
• Work with EPC to develop Subproject SHE Plan, when required.

MAIN FUNCTIONS
• Work with EM & Contractor’s site management and SHE organizations to implement project & site SHE programs
• Provides overall SHE leadership support to the Sub-project Manager and the EPC Contractor's SHE organization. Coaches and facilitates implementation of systematic SHE approach (Plan –> Execute –> Assess –> Adjust)
• SHE processes to assure compliance with Project SHE Plan requirements. Verifies implementation of the EPC contractor's Sub-project SHE Plan as endorsed by ExxonMobil project management.
• Coach and facilitate:
- EM Sub-project Manager and the Contractor's Management to achieve SHE objectives
- Sub-project various Site SHE Advisors
- Contractors to assure appropriate SHE compliance monitoring and implementation of SubProject SHE Plan
- Plans the Implementation of SHE management system
• Advise and align Contractor of EM SHE requirements, expectations, and best practices
• Organize and coordinate the Sub-project's SHE training program
• Provide leadership and monitor, mentor & coach activities of Contractor Sub-project SHE
• Develop expectations for project management programs for SHE-related activities
• Communicate and coordinate guidelines for EM SHE awareness, recognition, and incentive programs
• Provide assistance and participate in risk assessments per the Sub-project's SHE program
• Collect, analyze, and report data on SHE initiatives and performance to project management
• Facilitate regular SHE inspections, assessments, and audits at the various Sub-project sites in accordance with established EM SHE Programs or as requested by project management
• Organize & participate in investigation and follow-up of incidents, including development of action plans, and review/critique incident notifications and investigation reports
• Share SHE Lessons Learned between site and outside organizations
• Participate in the screening and selection of Sub-project Site SHE Advisors
• Facilitate/encourage heightened SHE awareness and behavior throughout the Sub-project
• Facilitate the Sub-project SHE Steering Committees
• Coach and facilitate Sub-project's Contractors to comply with the Sub-project SHE Plan

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCES:
• Thorough knowledge of SHE standards, codes, and practices
• Facilities fabrication, construction, transportation, and pre-commissioning from a SHE perspective
• EM practices, processes, and expectations with respect to SHE management
• Skills required to carry out SHE work
• College / University degree &/or technical diploma (preferred)
• 8 to 15 years in positions related to construction SHE (Prefer previous EM project experience)
• Practical SHE judgement
• Ability and desire to function in an integrated project team environment
• Ability to work in harsh environment and stressful situations, with ever changing priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook suite of software programs
• Read, write, and speak fluent English, as required to function effectively within a project team

Demonstrated ability to develop successful working relationships with emphasis on interfacing and mentoring in a team environment
