The Role:
Based within our clients Operations Department this role is the single point of accountability for the efficient and cost-effective performance of the ship, championing safety and the application of group critical safety behaviours on the vessel.

Main Duties & Responsibilities;

•To provide leadership and co-ordination to a team of onshore and offshore personnel that supports project performance by planning, executing, measuring and improving a range of key discipline activities associated with the delivery of overall efficiency of the ships marine and construction activities. The role supports tender preparation by providing a continuity of knowledge regarding a ship's capability, performance, cost base and technical library.

•Ensure that the ship is properly crewed and available in the operational condition required

•Ensure that the ship's capability is developed through the identification and recommendation of CAPEX projects and other investment opportunities

•Contributes to creating and managing a positive HSEQ culture

•Ensures the efficient and cost-effective performance of the ship, its equipment and personnel, providing safety leadership and championing critical safety behaviours

•Ensures that the ship's offshore management have developed and are implementing the HSEQ Action Plan for the ship

•Ensures that HSEQ performance, worksite HSEQ review, critical safety behaviours, safety observations, safety statistics and safety training are implemented, measured and reported on a regular basis and any trends identified and acted on

•Provides the single point of contact for the project regarding all activities and information relating to the ship, e.g. technical specifications, sub-contractor interface requirements etc

•Coordinates the activities of and provides leadership to the Integrated Ship Management Team

•Works with Offshore Staffing to ensure optimal deployment of resources to projects and that crew changes are planned for maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness

•Plans and provides necessary input in to the Operational Ship Schedule to ensure efficient utilisation and performance taking into account planned durations for M&R, dry docking, audits, etc

•Review and inputs into the ship's equipment CAPEX proposals, identifying growth CAPEX and preparing technical specifications and budgets

•Reports ship performance on a monthly basis

Travel Requirements:
Offshore Management Visits, as and when required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Highly developed leadership, managerial and organisational skills
Excellent communicator, with ability to interface with management and offshore personnel
Extensive offshore operational experience
Knowledge of engineering and offshore construction operations
Good knowledge and understanding of HSEQ

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Maximises the efficiency and effectiveness of resources by driving a continuous improvement philosophy, encouraging creativity and extending the capability of people to develop pragmatic and effective solutions for clients and internal customers
