The Company:
Our client is a succesful global operator working on some major projects.

The Role:
Job Purpose:
• Responsible for coordinating and leading others in the safe execution of on-shore construction activities managed by the Operation Projects Department.
• Participate in the construction contracting strategy developments where required.
• Participate in all on-shore project activities from its inception through to close-out.
• Provides construction support and consultancy to the Construction Superintendent.
• Keeps abreast of construction technological developments and provides guidance to management.
• Assist in the overall planning and managing of the construction group including support staff on on-shore projects.
• Manages the Construction supervisors in the execution of their work.
• Assist in the management of the Construction Contractor on a day to day basis and provides support in contract administration and contract execution.
• Provides assistance in construction activities in other areas where required.

Key Result Areas:
• Actively participates in ensuring and enforcing construction safety both for company personnel and contractors.
• Actively participates in the B-Safe Observation program and ensures the successful application of the program within the construction group as well as within the contractors.
• Assisting in construction contract preparation, tendering and evaluation where required.
• Assisting in the development and tendering of a General Construction Contract for minor capital work where required.
• Ensures that relevant construction specifications are included in the Work Pack and that established procedures are followed during the construction phase of projects.

• Responsible for ensuring projects are safely constructed in accordance with agreed schedule, budget and quality requirements.
• Input into the Scopes of Work and Compensation philosophies for Construction contracts.
• Participates in the evaluation of Contractor estimates and their technical and commercial ability in project execution.
• Provides input into performance evaluation of contractors.
• Provides input into the Lessons Learned evaluation program and applies these in future projects.
• Provide advise where required such as Design Basis, FEED packages, Detail Design Packages, Project Execution Plans, Construction Packages, Purchase Packages, EPC Packages.
• Participate in establishing the Construction Execution Plans for projects.
• Participates in Constructability reviews and provides valued critique on Contractors methodology and/or practises.
• Manages Construction Supervisors and QA/QC personnel during project execution.
• Provides project progress reports and schedule updates.
• Provides input for the preparation of project budgets when required.
• Assist the Contractor in managing changes to construction projects.
• Participates in maintaining relevant project data in the appropriate system.
• Actively participates in the Management of Change process.
Operating Environment, Framework and Boundaries:
• Carries out the duties in accordance with Company policies, under the directives of the Construction Superintendent.
• Provides construction recommendations on tenders, engineering design and control of contractors.
• Discusses with Construction Head of any significant problems and work progress encountered during projects.
• Substitutes for the Construction Head or colleagues when requested.
• Assists the OPD projects group in meeting the RGEE expectations.
Communications and Working Relationships:
• Communicates with Project Engineers, Construction Supervisors, Operations, Maintenance, Safety and Materials personnel.
• Works with engineers, construction supervisors and foremen to oversee the installation and/or construction activities to ensure that agreed procedures and safety practises are followed, the quality of work meets company standards and contract specifications, and the construction is executed in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
• Provides weekly and monthly construction reports as requested.
• Communication with Construction Head& Manager, Project Engineers & the on-shore asset group representatives.


Problem Solving/Complexity:
• Assists in the creation of construction execution plans.
• Actively participate in problem solving.
Decision Making Authority and Responsibility:
• Performs assigned duties in accordance with clear company policies, management directives and company standards.

• Ability to manage and schedule the project construction work within established and agreed parameters.
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
• Engineering Bachelor .
• Minimum of 10 years experience in construction activities including contracting and execution with at least 5 years in brown field modifications to major process plants both for off-shore and on-shore projects with 5 years of Shutdown experiences.
• Very good written and spoken English skills.
• Experience working with multicultural workforce.
• Excellent documentation writing skills for preparation of project control and reports.
• Computer literate and experienced in using the MS Office and MS projects packages. Experience in project cost and progress control computer programs and tools.
• Experience in effective manpower planning for multiple tasks.
