The Role:
Signalling Principles Tester
1. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF ROLE
 Perform the testing of safety-critical railway signalling systems in accordance with project requirements.
2. KEY ELEMENTS OF ROLE
 Perform testing for projects to satisfy customer requirements for safety, technical excellence and timescales
 Maintain awareness of and ensure adherence to relevant procedures and standards e.g. Signalling Works Testing Handbook
 Conduct tests within the test environment to verify that the requirements have been met, in a manner that minimises cost, time and undesirable impact
 Find major bugs quickly
 Raise error logs as necessary and communicate problems and issues to the project team in a timely manner and of a quality to ensure errors are resolved and turned around in a short space of time
 Produce testing guides and documentation
 Provides the necessary technical expertise and support to the development of colleagues such that they achieve IRSE licenses at the earliest opportunity.
3. KEY RELATIONSHIPS
 Reports to Project Manager or Project Engineering Manager
 Key relationships with Project Engineers and Data Preparation
4. OTHER ROLE INFORMATION
The following /qualifications/experiences are extremely desirable. However, reasonable training is provided for the role in line with Company policy.
 Educated to GCSE ‘A’ level or equivalent
 IRSE Functional Tester licence 1.3.170
 Completion of Advanced Signalling Technology course
 Good understanding of relevant procedures and standards
 Work-related experience in signalling testing
