The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operator and one of the country's largest oil and natural gas production and exploration companies. Headquartered in Calgary, our client is a top producer of natural gas with oil sands interests near Fort McMurray, Alberta.

The Role:
Reporting to the Procurement Team Lead - Facilities Engineering and Construction, the Site Purchasing Lead is accountable for the effective oversight and administration for assigned Materials and Purchasing Procurement activities in supporting efficient supply of capital materials and services for New Facilities, Engineering and Construction Services. The select candidate will support forecasting and effective supplier and EPC oversight strategies and management with key vendors. The successful Site Purchasing Lead will need to be aligned with quick tie in processes and able to react to program changes and peak activity periods.

• Establishes purchasing policies, ensures compliance, and oversees EPC deliverables
• Place purchase orders with vendors
• Must be able to work in a quick turnaround environment
• Solicit bids, analyzes quotes, conducts cost/price analyses, negotiate price, and select suppliers in relation to specifications, quantity, quality, delivery commitment, price, past performance, and knowledge of the supplier, government regulations, and established corporate purchasing policies and procedures
• Document and maintain purchase order files and folders. Be able to follow up and expedite orders placed. Works closely with receiving staff to ensure proper materials arrived
• Primary focal point for communications/negotiations with supply vendors and EPC
• Assure delivery commitments are met
• Source and qualify new suppliers as needed
• Negotiate terms and conditions as required

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum college diploma in Business, Science or a Supply Chain Discipline (Procurement, Purchasing, Materials Management , Logistics)
• Minimum 3 years upstream industry experience related to facility equipment, material and purchasing services
• Experienced in computer programs (SAP-MM and PS,Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, SAP MM and PS)
• Strong verbal and written communication including:
◦ Reporting skills
◦ Negotiation skills
◦ Presentation skills
• Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of New Facility experience related to Strategic Procurement and Purchasing
• SCMP (PMAC) certification
• Inventory and forecasting knowledge related to Western Canada activities
• Strong organization skills
• Team player
