The Role:
SECTION 2: KEY ROLES
The Safety Officer is a member of the site based project management team and reports to the Health & Safety Supervisor.
The Safety Officer will be based in a construction camp or other accommodation, dependant on project requirements.
The primary roles of the Safety Officer are to monitor the construction contractor’s compliance to Company and Contractor policies, procedures and standards and to champion the project safety programmes.
SECTION 4: PRE-REQUISITIES
SECTION 4.1: TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety – NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent;.

SECTION 5: RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES
Roles and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
• Conduct site based safety assurance activities as directed by the H&S Supervisor or Site Manager;
• Participate in, and champion, the site behavioural based safety programmes;
• Participate in site risk assessments as requested;
• Attend and participate in daily toolbox talks;
• Attend and participate in daily Risk Assess It, Talk It, Check It (RTC) assessments;
• Conduct formal site inspections using project checklists;
• Participate in H&S audits as an audit team member;
• Participate, as a team member, on incident investigations;
• Deliver Project Inductions, and other Company safety training programmes as required;
• Support the delivery and communication of safety related information and provide input into the development of safety awareness campaigns;
• Assist in emergency response exercises/training and participate in real emergency response as required;
• Attend H&S training programmes as requested;
• Provide written weekly reports or as requested by the H&S Supervisor;
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all H&S requirements, including contractor’s procedures;
• Proactively seek ways to reduce H&S risks and initiate improvements.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
SECTION 4.2: EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES
• Azerbaijani citizen;
• Work experience in construction safety. Preference will be given to those who have oil & gas industry construction experience;
• Fluent in Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages;
• Competent in conducting risk assessment;
• Competent in conducting incident investigations;
• Competent in conducting audits;
• Competent in report writing in English;
• Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook;
• Interpersonal skills and experience in team working environment; and
• Valid driving license
