The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Reporting to the Power Supply Systems Technical Specialist, the successful applicant will have the responsibility for running the advanced engineering process for pre-development of vehicle power supply systems.

This engineer will also be expected to take on direct responsibility, as appropriate, for the initial design and delivery of the power supply systems of specific vehicles and so must be able to provide clear direction and consistent communication in order to successfully agree any necessary design changes and to progress them up to the gateway as necessary. The engineer will also have the task of assessing the existing power supply system model, in Simulink, and its use throughout the development process and work with main engineering to improve it and its use throughout the vehicle development phase, in order to improve the quality and accuracy of the simulation and its predictions.

Finally, the successful applicant may have the opportunity, where appropriate, to provide support to the Power Supply Technical Specialist in continuing research into new and improved power supply systems. This will provide opportunity for the engineer to obtain experience of a wider range of systems and components and provide opportunity for interaction with a wide range of CoC's.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Design/development of electrical systems for transport such as vehicles, trains, aeroplanes etc.
* Creation and operation of models using the Mathworks Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow software and toolset packages.
* Application of quality tools to assist with a structured design process, (e.g. DFMEA, 6 sigma tools).
* Degree or equivalent preferred but not essential.
* Awareness of the key components of a power system as regards their operation, performance and limitations and willingness to study and research in order to improve that knowledge.
* Capability to use industry-standard system modelling tool set (MATLAB, Simulink etc.)
* Ability to methodically study and research in order to learn about new components/systems or improve knowledge of subject areas as necessary to support ongoing systems design and development work.
* Drive and self motivation to deliver results with minimum supervision.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Understanding or experience of the composition of automotive low voltage electrical power systems, the operation of the key components and the methods by which they are controlled. Production of technical reports describing work performed with supporting data or assessing potential system designs with a purpose of recommending design directions. Data analysis capability using tools such as Matlab, Minitab or Excel for example.
