The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Project Planner - Embedded Software Chassis Electronics are looking for an experienced and highly motivated software project planner with responsibility for managing the development, delivery, and validation of in-house control software for Vehicle Dynamics functions. This role will be within the Chassis Electronics section of Electrical Electronic and Software Engineering (EESE). Chassis Electronics provides electronic systems design and development expertise for Chassis related Features such as ABS, DSC, EPB, ACC, TR and JDO. Within Chassis Electronics the Vehicle Dynamic Systems team are responsible for developing and delivering in-house control software for a range of systems including Air Suspension, Active Damping, Active Roll Control, Driveline Controls and Terrain Response. This system software is hosted on a number of different hardware platforms including the Chassis Control Module and Gateway Module.
Skills Required:
Tasks Include: ¿ Create and manage project plans to support the delivery of system software to the software integration teams. ¿ Interact with the local team HW and SW engineers, and other departments including Research, Chassis Engineering, and Electrical Integration to establish timescales, resource estimates and deliverables in line with the JLR PCS process and Chassis Electronics software process. ¿ Project management of on-shore and off-shore system and controls engineers and software build teams to ensure timely delivery of software components and hardware requirements, test plans and releases according to gateways. ¿ Define appropriate organisation and process for the project reviews (meeting structure, agenda, attendees) and running of effective meetings, including the local team and other departments such as Suppliers, Finance, Purchasing and Manufacturing representation where required. ¿ Management of local and company metrics and requirements cascade (Issues reporting, project status and software development metrics). ¿ Manage timely investigation and closure of problems including appropriate escalation and reporting of issues, and build and launch support where required. ¿ Support process improvement and compliance activities for the in-house software delivery process, including performing lessons learned activities to drive continuous improvement into local processes and standards.
Skills Preferred:
" ¿ Thorough understanding of control system and software development, integration and release for real time embedded applications throughout the product lifecycle ¿ Highly motivated and self-starting individual with effective leadership and influencing skills. Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential, including experience communicating to senior management. ¿ Experience of system engineering principles and ECU / software architecture, plus vehicle electrical architectures. ¿ Development and execution of robust DVM/DVP, including validation techniques such as SIL, MIL, HIL. ¿ Understanding of requirements and change management, software version control. ¿ Software documentation ¿ Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project) and Google Docs" " ¿ Understanding of the Mathworks and dSpace toolchain (Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow / Targetlink) ¿ Knowledge of development standards such as AutoSPICE, including the preparation of associated process deliverables ¿ Knowledge of chassis controls systems such as suspension control systems or driveline controls preferred but not essential. "
Experience Required:
" ¿ Knowledge of system and software development and integration processes throughout the 'V' delivery lifecycle, including understanding of software development processes such as Waterfall and Agile. ¿ MS Project or similar project management tools. ¿ UK driving license. ¿ Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship"
Experience Preferred:
" ¿ Knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures ¿ Experience of component, system and vehicle level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (5D, Is / Is Not, Fault Tree etc) ¿ Management of offshore software development teams and / or 3rd party ECU suppliers for software coding and integration tasks ¿ Experience of JLR / Ford systems advantageous but not essential (AIMS, RMDV, PCS etc)"
Education Required:
" ¿ Degree in Electronics, Computer Science, Software, Automotive / Aerospace engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience ¿ Full UK driving license"
