The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Software Engineer - Firmware / Embedded C Chassis Electronics are looking for an experienced and highly motivated software engineer with responsibility for the development, delivery, and validation of firmware and low level software functions to support in-house ECU development to support Vehicle Dynamics control systems. The Chassis Electronics department supports Chassis Engineering, providing electronic systems design and development expertise for features such as ABS, DSC, EPB, ACC, and VDS. Within Chassis Electronics, the Vehicle Dynamic Systems team are responsible for developing and delivering in-house control software for a range of systems including suspension, damping, driveline controls and Terrain Response. Tasks Include: ¿ Development and implementation of firmware and low level software functions. This includes development and implementation of new systems, updates of existing systems and architecture improvements. ¿ Requirements analysis and decomposition, software architecture design, software integration, development and execution of test cases, release documentation ¿ Working with a team of system and controls engineers, including an offshore team, to manage timely delivery of software according to programme timing and local delivery milestones ¿ Issue investigation and resolution"

Skills Required:
Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle for embedded applications, including specification, architecture design, implementation, build and integration process, test, release and maintenance. ¿ Strong C programming language skills, and relevant quality standards e.g. MISRA. ¿ Knowledge of low level ECU design and implementation including aspects such as startup and shutdown, internal and external interfaces (CAN, Flexray, SPI), OS and task scheduling, safety monitoring functions, secondary processors, and integration of 3rd party software components. Understanding of low level microprocessor operation including Assembler language. ¿ Development and execution of robust DVM/DVP, including validation techniques such as SIL, MIL, HIL and test automation ¿ Specification authoring for in-house and 3rd party components. Requirements and change management, software version control (e.g. IBM Rational DOORS, RTC, SVN or similar) ¿ Software documentation and quality processes e.g. SPICE, and use of code quality tools e.g. Polyspace ¿ Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential ¿ Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)"

Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of model based development principals including Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow / dSpace Targetlink ¿ Knowledge of dSpace HIL equipment and test automation ¿ Knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures including CAN bus, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools ¿ Knowledge of JLR or Ford systems and processes advantageous but not essential (e.g. PCS, GPDS, RMDV, AIMS) ¿ Knowledge of safety standards such as ISO26262 / IEC61508 or similar"

Experience Required:
Experience of software development and delivery through all stages of the engineering development `V¿ cycle ¿ Experience using software and ECU development tools including debug hardware, CANalyser, CANape etc ¿ Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship ¿ Willingness to support occassional travel including overseas"

Experience Preferred:
" ¿ Experience working with the MCP555 processor family, and developing for multi-core processors ¿ Experienced in AutoSAR development ¿ Experience working with or managing offshore software development teams and / or 3rd party ECU suppliers for software coding, integration and industrialisation tasks ¿ Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and chassis electronics systems such as driveline controls or active suspension systems. ¿ Experience of quality and robustness techniques and standards such as FMEA, P-Diagrams, noise factor analysis. ¿ Authoring of technical processes and standards ¿ Component, system and vehicle level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (5D, Is / Is Not, Fault Tree etc) "

Education Required:
Degree in Electronics, Computer Science / Software, or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience ¿ Full UK driving license
