The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Software Tools and Methods Engineer Chassis Electronics are looking for an experienced and highly motivated software tools and methods engineer to support growth in embedded software development and related process and toolchain migration projects.
Tasks Include:
• Lead set up and migration to new software development toolchain, including requirements and problem management, change tracking, version control.
• Development, roll-out and support of process and toolchain enhancements relating to in-house embedded software development.
• Technical authorship of improved process documentation and associated training materials
The Chassis Electronics department supports Chassis Engineering, providing electronic systems design and development expertise for features such as ABS, DSC, EPB, ACC, and VDS. Within Chassis Electronics, the Vehicle Dynamic Systems team are responsible for developing and delivering in-house control software for a range of systems including suspension, damping, driveline controls and Terrain Response. The role may also support other areas of the EESE (Electrical, Electronics and Software Engineering) department.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associate tools and processes
Thorough understanding of requirements management, change management and version control tools and associated principals
Development of technical documentation and associated training materials, to support roll-out and adoption of new processes and tools
Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential, including the ability to train and coach others
Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project)
Experience of embedded software delivery through all stages of the software development `V cycle
Experience in the set-up and administration of requirements management, change management and version control tools (e.g. DOORS, RTC, JIRA, ClearCase / ClearQuest, SVN, Perforce etc)
Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship
Degree in Computer Science, Electronics or Software Engineering, or similar subject, or equival

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Knowledge of model based development using Mathworks and dSpace tools (Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, Targetlink) and embedded C
Knowledge of software quality tools (e.g. Polyspace, QAC) and standards (e.g. SPICE, MISRA, ISO26262)
Experience in the deployment or execution of software development techniques including Waterfall, AGILE, Continuous Integration
Experience in automotive, aerospace, defence or other similar industries
Experience working with offshore software development teams and / or 3rd party ECU suppliers for software coding and integration tasks
