Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Position Description:
Software Engineer - Driveline Controls Chassis Electronics are looking for an experienced and highly motivated software engineer with responsibility for the development, delivery, and validation of model based embedded software. This role relates specifically to the development of driveline controls functionality within the Chassis Control Module (CHCM) and ABS ECUs. The Chassis Electronics department supports Chassis Engineering, providing electronic systems design and development expertise for features such as ABS, DSC, EPB, ACC, and VDS. Within Chassis Electronics, the Vehicle Dynamic Systems team are responsible for developing and delivering in-house control software for a range of systems including suspension, damping, driveline controls and Terrain Response.

Tasks Include:
Development of model based software using Simulink / Stateflow / Targetlink including updates, additions of new features, bug fixes, and architecture improvements. Code product ionisation, validation and industrialisation, including development and execution of MIL / SIL and HIL tests.
Working with a team of system and controls engineers, including an offshore team, to manage timely delivery of software according to programme timing and local delivery milestones.
Develop driveline test cases from the software requirements.
Project management of the test group to ensure tests are completed to the project timing.
Analysis of test results and investigation of identified issues.

Skills Required:
Thorough understanding of control system and software development, integration and release using Mathworks and dSpace toolchain (Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow / Targetlink) for real time embedded applications throughout the product lifecycle
Experience of system engineering principles and ECU / Software Architecture.
Development and execution of robust DVM/DVP, including validation techniques such as SIL, MIL, HIL.
Requirements and change management, software version control.
Software documentation and associated quality standards (e.g. SPICE)
Strong organisational, project management and communication skills essential
Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Skills Preferred:
Knowledge of embedded networking and diagnostics standards (e.g. Flexray, CAN, ISO14229 / UDS), as well as fault detection and fault handling
Knowledge of client systems and processes advantageous but not essential (e.g. PCS, GPDS, RMDV, AIMS)
Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and chassis electronics systems.
Specification and design of discrete and state based control functions to meet functional requirements
Low level ECU functions e.g. OS, Network Management, ECU monitoring, start-up and shutdown, EEPROM management
Knowledge of the C programming language, and relevant standards e.g. MISRA.

Experience Required:
Experience of embedded software delivery through all stages of the software development `V- cycle
Must be eligible to work within the UK without sponsorship

Experience Preferred:
Knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures
Experience of component, system and vehicle level issue investigations including appropriate problem solving and reporting tools (5D, Is / Is Not, Fault Tree etc.)
Experience of CAN bus, automotive diagnostics and related system development tools (CANalyzer, ASL, CANape, etc.)
Management of offshore software development teams and / or 3rd party ECU suppliers for software coding and integration tasks.

Education Required:
Degree in Electronics, Software, Automotive / Aerospace engineering or similar subject, or equivalent industry experience
Full UK driving license
