The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The Engineer will be tasked to assist in the design, development and certification of internet enabled infotainment features. Primary duties will be to create, review and control all protocol interfaces to the connected technologies feature set. Being part of a `future vision team, the engineer will have the opportunity to work on proof of concept projects, embracing new and emerging technologies followed by certification and delivery to production systems. Working relationships (internal/external): CE Device and App Development Manager working closely to ensure interfaces and protocols are designed and delivered in a manner that the framework can support, while evolving the framework to meet planned and future requirements.
Vehicle Platform - working with the cross functional teams to ensure the integrity and stability of the framework in an automotive environment
App Developers - working very closely with the internal/external engineering team responsible for developing the apps
Project Managers - working very closely with project managers effectively working across multiple projects and delivering to deadlines
Working with external certification organisations to gain approval Main tasks and responsibilities: Lead connectivity protocol development, using the following mobile device protocols iAP, iAP2 and AOAP
Provide support over the entire product life cycle - concept, design, build, test and deployment
Work directly with app developers, SDK partners and handset manufacturers, to understand and define communications protocols Capture external requirements and formalise them into internal specifications
Develop internal certification processes for CE device interfaces and Apps
Working with the app developers to build the interface with focus on usability features
Articulate technical solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders


Essential Experience & Qualifications:
3+ years experience in iOS/Android product delivery development
Familiarity with Apple and Android tool chains, including Mac OS X and Xcode, Android SDK
Knowledge of certification processes. e.g Apple approval
Mobile IP, Communication Protocol stack development
Knowledge of USB/WiFi/BT/CAN/Ethernet connectivity, networks and associated tools
Ability and desire to quickly understand new frameworks and APIs
A track record of delivering successful consumer and or business products
Ability to use analytic data and user testing to inform design decision
A passion for new consumer technology and the emerging automotive app landscape
Ability to multi task and good time management skills
Ability to work on their own and as a part of the team
Excellent testing / QA skills
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise with various departments locally and internationally

Experience 3+ years experience in Systems Engineering, Test/Validation
Responsible for defining test specifications for server, client and service layers
Experience in the vehicle or mobile electronics domain
Infotainment/CE ¿ Excellent knowledge in information architecture, data management and UI
A track record of delivering successful consumer and or business products
Ability to use analytic data and user testing to inform design decision
Ability to multi task and good time management skills
Ability to work on their own and as a part of the team
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to liaise with various departments, locally and internationally

Education: Software Engineering, Computer science, IT or Engineering degree.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in the vehicle electronics domain - infotainment design and development
Working knowledge of GSM, 3G mobile cellular connectivity
FMEA, Six-Sigma certification
Good use of information to build and present a point of view
Experience of developing one or more of : hands-free telephony, wireless communications, CE device (iOS & Android) accessories, vehicle interfaces.
