We have an immediate requirement for a Solids & Hazardous Waste Engineer to join the Land & Groundwater Protection Unit of the Environmental Protection Department based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The role will involve the overseeing of legacy contaminated sites, phasing-out land farming and promoting recovery of hydrocarbon from waste; developing an industrial waste recycling program; developing a hazardous waste transporter program; developing waste minimization best practices; evaluating the construction and demolition of waste recycling technologies, and completing reviews of project designs and environment impact assessments (EIAs).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have the following experience, competencies and skillsets: A bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Chemical or Engineering or a higher qualification from an accredited university. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) license or registration would be desirable but is not essential. Must have a minimum of 9 years of post-graduate experience, with at least 5 years of environmental field experience. Must have an excellent command of both written and verbal English.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Provide high level technical consultations related to waste management, minimization, treatment, and disposal; contaminated site characterization and remediation; and environmental impact assessment. Support operations/projects related to the management of solid and hazardous waste streams generated in refining, gas operations, oil production operations and company communities. Participate in the development of new waste management technologies and in the adaption of existing technologies to company operations. Support the professional development of younger Saudi engineers in the field of solids and hazardous waste management.
