The Company:
A luxury Automotive OEM based in the West Midlands. After continued growth & success there are a number of new exciting engineering projects underway and we currently have requirements for experienced engineering professionals.

The Role:
The SPAP Engineer is responsible for signing off parts as OK for production for running changes on all current models. They are also responsible for auditing suppliers based on priority of quality performance and their impact on the business. The ideal candidate will have a background in STA or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks
•Liaise with Engineers to understand the level and complexity of changes being released.
•Ensuring that the part approval requirements are clear to suppliers at the time parts are released from engineering before any tooling or part modifications are made to support any running change (PPAP / SPAP requirements).
•Approval of parts for production readiness for any running changes made on all current production vehicles in a timely manner to ensure that they approved in line with planned introduction timing (PPAP / SPAP approval).
•Raise containments to cover any parts that will not be signed off in time to support production ensuring that the relevant controls are in place to ensure parts are fit for use and any testing required has been completed.
•Support internal engineering change introduction planning reviews for part approval status.
•Analyse supplier performance data to prioritise audit schedule.
•Plan visit schedule to support part approval and audit requirements.
•Auditing suppliers against part approval requirements and quality controls and follow up to ensure any issues raised are resolved.
•Have a methodical approach to problem solving with an ability to react quickly to identify root cause. They must have experience in solving complex problems using either 8D, G8D, PPS and/or 6 Sigma leading to effective solutions.
•Track and report out part approval and audit status on a weekly basis.
•Training suppliers when required so they understand and can complete the standard client part approval documentation.
•Support supplier resourcing activities and any supplier requested process changes (resource and SREAs).
•Document any issues raise with solutions both internally and at suppliers to ensure all learning points are captures on future changes, parts (Quality History Reports).
•Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally to support supplier based activities.

The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•BEng Hons in engineering discipline (minimum 2:2 – 2nd class) or equivalent
•Worked in OEM or Tier 1 supplier responsible for parts quality
•Experience of component development & manufacturing
•Worked as STA engineer or equivalent in OE environment
•Experience of variety of quality tools including Failure Mode Avoidance tool set
•Experience dealing with next tier suppliers
•Has approved engineering changes using SPAP / PPAP system or equivalent
•Practical experience of problem solving (Six Sigma, PPS and/or 8D or equivalent)
•Reporting from meetings
•Meeting lead and presentation
•Experience using Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook
•Experience using CAD packages for investigation (Teamcentre/VIS mock-up)
•Must be reliable, punctual and self-motivated with a drive to complete investigations
•Able to work overseas
•Have full UK driving licence
•Support flexible working day as required
