The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
Test Rig Design Engineer - To deliver mechanical test rig designs in support of base programme activities within client Structural Test Laboratories, Road Load Data and Vehicle Safety Test departments. The position will be to lead projects from concept through to final deliver within the area.

KEY SKILLS
Expert user of Catia V5 within a mechanical design environment.
Capability: solid modelling (parts and assemblies), 2D drawing generation.
Good mechanical engineering knowledge including material selection, bearing selection, mechanisms, bolted joints.
Knowledge of CAE methodology for design validation.
Project management skills with the ability to lead projects from concept through to final delivery

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Competent Catia V5 and Team Centre within a mechanical design environment - Solid Modelling (parts and assemblies). Good mechanical engineering knowledge including material selection, bearing selection, mechanisms, bolted joints. Knowledge of CAE methodology for design validation. Project management skills with the ability to lead projects from concept through to final delivery. Desired; a degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to create and interpret 2D drawings for manufacture of test rig fixtures. Knowledge of CAE methodology for design validation Good communication skills. Knowledge of vehicle packaging. Knowledge of testing methodologies relating to the structural testing of chassis and body components and assemblies. Knowledge of physical testing using closed loop electro-hydraulic equipment JLR/Ford attended Catia V5 and Team Centre training - desired but not essential
