Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.
"The engineer in this role will own and be accountable for leading the technical and gateway deliverables of one or more specified brakes components. Leading the multi-functional team to deliver:
Technical specifications for the component. Contribute towards supplier selection. Supplier relationship management. management & Supplier programme status reporting. Manage supplier relationship to ensure on-time component programme delivery Design and Development plans i.e. Component commodity plans & Design Verification Plans. Issue management & resolution. Management of parts supply for prototype and pre-production builds. Engineering design release. Management of supply for line trials. Delivery of component PPAP. Component launch into volume production "
3 KEY SKILLS Proven experience of multi-disciplinary Team leadership (minimum 1 year in a role of this type) involving the project management of introduction of externally sourced components or systems into volume production. Minimum of a background in Mechanical Engineering - preferably Automotive Engineering - and a knowledge passenger car chassis components and systems. Comprehensive ability to work with MS Office applications and manage large numbers of records in different formats. Prior knowledge of or the ability to readily learn to use the various IT systems associated with the design, development and verification of a complex vehicle programme
Experience Required: "Responsibility for new component development, fit and function in an automotive environment or closely related industry. Experience of managing the implementation of components with suppliers. Experience of Programme Management, and current use of WERS, AIMS and other engineering delivery systems would be an advantage. Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering (2:1 or higher)"
Experience Preferred: "Experience of the mechanical design of Chassis components & Systems. Experience of cost reduction in an automotive environment. Knowledge of Braking or Chassis Hydraulic systems would be advantageous."
Additional Information : The role is based at Gaydon but will involve travel to suppliers and manufacturing sites, mostly within the UK.
