The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
"TRANSCEND is an Advanced Propulsion Centre funded program, to develop a new hybrid transmission specification, from concept to series production equivalent design release. Work with TRANSCEND Core Team, key collaborative and sub-contract partners to deliver transmission geartrain and rotating parts for TRANSCEND. Establish and maintain specifications for system level transmission hardware, covering helical gears, shafts, bearings and synchronisers. Support Programme gateways event; CAE models complete, system level integration and CAD specifications complete. Establish and maintain Technical Target Brochure and secure agreement with all stakeholder parties. Concur assumptions with systems engineering and transmission/vehicle teams, oversee all sub-contract CAE activities. Report overall status to TRANSCEND Programme Leaders. Concur functional and operational strategy assumptions with stakeholders. Document and concur Design Decisions. Support program deliverables and objectives, including reporting forums and presentations.

3 KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:
1)Fundamental gear design and CAE using a toolsets such as SMT MASTA, Romax Designer, KissSoft, etc.
2)Detailed understanding of geartrain design, and interaction of gearing to the shaft and bearing systems.
3)Detailed knowledge of synchroniser systems, characteristics and fundamental design calculations.

Experience Required: "Self-motivated and adaptable to changing demands. Experience of transmission geartrain modelling, including life calculations, duty cycle, transmission error and NVH performance for hybrid electric vehicles. Demonstrable experience of planning and delivering transmissions internal components from concept to final sign-off. Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of hybrid solutions and integration of electric machines with transmissions geartrain. Delivery of system and components specification details using engineering service providers.Ideally degree or equivalent qualified.

Experience Preferred: "Experience in transmission function and NVH performance, design and integration. CATIA V5 / Team Centre / Digibuck. DV testing of geartrain. Mechanical systems DFMEA and system specification control documentation. Experience of developing and delivering Shift quality and NVH attributes for automotive transmissions.

Additional Information : This role will require some one who desires a challenge, can innovate and lead the system level design of a completely novel hybrid transmission, focussing on it's geartrain and rotating parts aspects.
