The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The engineer in this role will own and be accountable for leading the technical and gateway deliverables of one or more specified brakes components (e.g. brake discs) for use on these vehicles. Leading the multi-functional team to deliver: Technical specifications for the component. Contribute towards supplier selection. Supplier relationship management. Management & Supplier programme status reporting. Manage supplier relationship to ensure on-time component programme delivery. Design and Development plans i.e. Component commodity plans & Design Verification Plans. Issue management & resolution. Management of parts supply for prototype and pre-production builds. Engineering design release. Management of supply for line trials. Delivery of component PPAP. Component launch into volume production.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Proven multi-disciplinary Team leadership skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to confidently present project status reports to supplier and internal senior teams. Basic knowledge of automotive chassis systems. Comprehensive ability to work with MS Office applications and manage large numbers of records in different formats. Ability to work in fast paced environment. Full UK driving licence for Cat B vehicles.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
An understanding of related Chassis systems, such as suspension structures. Knowledge of product development processes. Knowledge of APQP, WERS, eFDVS and other Quality Tools. Knowledge of the use of CAE techniques in an engineering context. Knowledge of the 6-Sigma process. Green Belt qualified. Experience of the mechanical design of Chassis components & Systems. Experience of cost reduction in an automotive environment. The role is based at Gaydon but is likely to involve travel to suppliers and test site in the UK and overseas.
