The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
This is a varied and challenging role. The successful candidate will be primarily operating in the Product creation and delivery system (PCDS) environment. The core objective being to ensure the design and sourcing of Electrical parts ( Mainly rotating electrics and ECUs) is optimized for remanufacturing, lower level assemblies, efficient diagnostics and repair procedures; using the learning gained from current warranty issues. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to demonstrate significant and quantifiable multi-million pounds benefits to the business and further strengthen the business case for this strategy to be rolled out across the entire organisation. Key responsibilities As a Design for Service Engineer , you will develop strong working relationships with the product creation and delivery system teams ensuring Design for Service requirements are fed into the programme include timing, cost, quality, etc. Attend forums to generate Design for Service awareness and ensure requirements are fed into programs throughout the strategy, delivery and launch phases. Ensure smooth integration of Design for Service requirements into supporting PCDS processes Prepare Design for Service business cases based on current warranty data Ensure robust and timely delivery of Design for Service projects Support Design for Remanufacturing activities: Identify potential remanufactured parts by liaison with warranty engineers, product development teams, central remanufacturing team, and suppliers and peer OEM's. Ensure Reman requirement are included in sourcing (RFQ and ESOW). Assist in the Development of remanufacturing process using component DV parts. Reman part number creation. Sign off supplier proposal of test suite to guarantee Reman component quality. Compilation of Reman spec, reman BOM and test suite for filing by the central Reman team.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Demonstrable leadership skills High drive, self-motivated and able to deliver with minimum supervision. Have a high degree of knowledge in business case preparation. Good Project Management skills. Have good analytical skills. High interpersonal and presentational skills are essential as the role entails liaising with different departments/suppliers up to and including board level Good understanding of Electrical Engineering and manufacturing processes. Remanufacturing experience would be a distinct advantage Candidates must be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure. Experience/ working knowledge of automotive power supply systems ( rotating electrics in particular) and ECUs would be a significant advantage. Prior field service engineering experience is preferred Good understanding of quality and reliability disciplines ( Process mapping, FMEA, Hazard plots etc.) The individual must be PC literate (with good MS Excel, PowerPoint.) Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Support Design for LLA activities: Analyse incoming warranty data to identify opportunities. Update service standards and ensure LLA availability at Job 1 for future programs. Support Design for efficient diagnostics and repair procedures at concept: Analyse incoming warranty data to identify prevent recurrence opportunities with regards to dealer diagnostics and Standard Repair Operations. Update service standards and ensure optimized diagnostics and standard repair operations at Job 1 for future programs. A good understanding of the automotive PCDS process (GPDS, DVP, Gateway disciplines etc..) would be advantageous. Experience in using the Minitab Statistical Software package desirable. Six Sigma Green Belt/ Black Belt trained or certified.
