The Company:
Our Client is a world leading Automotive OEM which is responsible for some of the most iconic 4x4's & Sports Cars produced. Due to the huge demand for current models and substantial investment in future projects there is a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering & manufacturing on a contract basis.

The Role:
The applicant will be required to work with the Tier 1 Engineering supplier and JLR subject matter experts to tune the software parameters within the Stability Control System and Driveline Control Systems in such a way as to optimize the stability performance of the vehicle in all operating conditions as defined by the performance targets applicable to the specific vehicle project Key Responsibilities: Lead the tuning of Stability Control Systems from FDJ through to J1 sign off Subjectively and objectively assess vehicle stability performance in a repeatable, safe manner Use vehicle based instrumentation to gather on-vehicle data Use software tools such as MM6, Canalyser, Canape, Matlab, Simulink and CarMaker to gather data on system performance Use gathered data alongside subjective evaluation to identify parameter changes to drive the desired change in system and vehicle performance for all SCS hosted functions and eDiff/IDD Systems. Work with simulation tools to identify parameter changes Work closely with the Tier 1 supplier based abroad to determine parameter changes Work closely with Off Road Capability, Dynamics and other attribute teams to manage attribute trade-offs and meet vehicle targets Liaise with Vehicle Engineering and Programme teams during the development process

High level driving skills at and beyond the adhesion limit in a range of high and low mu test environments will be demonstrated by having spent a minimum of 10 years employed in a vehicle dynamics tuning, tyre testing or Stability Control System Application tuning role. Experience will typically including extended test sessions at the Nurburgring, wet handling tracks and low mu winter testing on an ice lake test facility. A minimum of 5 years spent tuning Stability Control Systems (also known as ESP) for a major motor manufacturer or Stability Control System supplier as an application engineer. A minimum of 5 years working with either Continental Teves or Bosch Stability Control Systems A proven ability to assess vehicle dynamic behaviour A proven ability to use CAN based tools and measurement analysis tools Driver training qualifications from industry recognized training providers which encompasses race track, development driving and low mu test activities( i.e. JLR class 4PG or equivalent)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
High level driving skills at and beyond the adhesion limit in a range of high and low mu test environments. Analysis of vehicle handling characteristics during a driving manoeuvre. In depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics In depth knowledge of SCS systems and calibration Appropriate knowledge of: control theory, electronics and electrical systems, modelling tools and techniques and vehicle networking Knowledge of measurement and instrumentation systems (such as CANalyser, CANape, Matlab, Simulink) PC literate (Excel), with good communication skills. Systematic problem solving. Candidates must be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure and beyond normal working hours when required Must be able to work with people at all levels within JLR and interface with suppliers Key Word Search Criteria: Stability SCS Attribute Vehicle Dynamics

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
IPG CARMAKER software package

A proven track record in an automotive development or system application role Modelling and Simulation experience using Matlab, Simulink and CarMaker

Degree in Automotive, Motor Sport or mechanical or electrical engineering Nurburgring industry pool training completion via Joe Weber driving school
