The Company:
Our Client's subsea expertise is based on more than 75 years of design, installation, and manfacturing of subsea equipment, control systems and related products/ services. Service to the Oil & Gas industry began in the 1920s.

The Role:
The System Engineering department has been created to manage the system aspects of the controls element of the Subsea production control system. The areas of work that will be covered by Mechanical Discipline Principle Engineers in the department are,

Assist the systems engineer to prepare the technical content of fixed price bids, budgetary bids and studies including clarification to technical tenders. The Mechanical / SEDS Specialist Engineers may meet with clients with the System Engineer present to represent the company.

Assist Systems Engineers with the provision of technical authority for the system design on projects such that we build in the project what was bid during the tendering phase.

The Mechanical Principle Engineers review the products available and suggest the best product to fit the system. This process may require new parts to be created in SAP and create new datasheets, this would be done in conduction with the System Engineers and other parties within engineering as required.

Manage the scheduled bid team activities and ensure that bid team Engineers are supported through the technical expertise to fulfil all requirements.
Responsibilities are carried out whereby normal line management reporting is to the Systems Engineering Manager.
Review Client Specifications, to ensure products are suitable for application.
Raise exceptions to client specifications where products do not comply.
Co-ordinate during tender for specialist area to ensure system engineer knows which items require qualification or current TRL
Select "standard" products to suit system solution provided by system engineer.
Liaise with COE Product Group to ensure non-qualified products are suitable with current planned developments.
Allocate timescale and engineering hours to tenders and studies.
Compile technical datasheets where no current datasheet exists for inclusion in tender/study.
Liaise with discipline Engineers to see current best practice.
Assist system engineer to ensure optimum system solutions will work with current product or proposed products
Assist systems engineer in preparing responses to bid clarifications from clients
Assist system engineer in study work received by the department.
Ensure that the Project Execution Model Execution part is correctly utilised on projects.
Mentor Bid team Engineers in their day to day work.
Perform appraisals of bid team Engineers.
Additionally, when workload demands, the job holder may be assigned other duties as defined by the Supervisor.
Lead the development and improvement of the bid team
Respond to tasking requests and reporting progress to the System Engineering Manager.
Scheduling of work to appropriate team members in consultation with System Engineering Manager.
Supervising the timely issue of analysis reports for the Analysis discipline.
Handling or supervising discipline specific external & internal communications for the bid Team.
Familiarity and compliance with company procedures, project specifications and statutory regulations so that a standard approach to design is adopted whilst satisfying customer requirements for the Analysis discipline.
Supervising the Completion of tasks within agreed time scales & budgets, reporting status & deviations to the System Engineering Manager.
Ensure team documents are fit for purpose and meet all client requirements.
Awareness of lessons learnt from all previous company projects & implementation.
When required to provide support to sites within UK or internationally.
Assisting in defining and developing processes & procedures for Bid Team.
In addition to the duties listed, the jobholder is required to perform other duties assigned by the supervisor/manager from time to time.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree or HND/HNC and professional experience in a relevant discipline
Detailed knowledge of Excel
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software or equivalent business software
Knowledge of specialist area of Subsea control systems
CEng or working towards Chartered Engineer Status.
Specific Training/ Specialist Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Working knowledge in SAP.
Knowledge of subsea production system.
Ability to solve and come up with well thought practical solutions.
Provide the best solutions in terms of quality and cost.
Be a self-starter in order to achieve tasks and overcome problems as well as provide direction for others.
High regard for attention to detail.
Create a culture of continuous improvement.
Encourage a high level of performance in self and others.
Develop networks and identify resources as and when necessary.
Good communication and presentation skills.
