The Role:
We are currently looking for a Spinning Technician with experience in basalt fibre or glass fibre production techniques to work on a pilot scale basalt fibre production plant. The technician is expected to maintain predefined control of all aspects of the process running according to critical process variables and demonstrate technical aptitude to suggest appropriate process changes to maximize product performance. The Technician will work to assure maximum quality and safety during operations.

1- Demonstrate competency in all fibre spinning operations including batching, melting, fiberizing, chemical application and quality of resulting fibre
2- Work within a multi skilled team to ensure R&D projects progress as planned.
3- Perform data entry and monitoring of all processing parameters.
4- Verify operation and assure suitability of resulting fibre during production process
5- Collect basalt fibre samples and execute fibre diameter testing
6- Recognize process abnormalities and understand cause/effect relationships to the resulting impact on fibre quality
7- Note any process abnormalities and notify Senior Engineer or Technologist to initiate corrective action
8- Increase technical aptitude of the basalt fibre manufacturing process to increase capabilities and understanding of the process
9- Must be capable of working shifts to ensure the pilot plant can operate on 24hr basis during production campaigns.
10- Follow procedures and work instruction relevant to the basalt fibre production according to the internal management system of the centre
11- Follow high standards of safety and environmental awareness
12- Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times
13- Assure clean and orderly housekeeping in all assigned areas at all times
14- Perform other related duties consistent with the nature of the job as directed.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum of two years experience in the inorganic fibre manufacturing industry. Must hold a diploma or similar qualification in Materials, engineering or Chemistry and have the following skills and experience:

- Must be able to read, write, and speak English
- Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
- Must possess strong communication skills
- Must have the ability to multi-task
- Must work well in team environment
- Must have the ability to execute basic mathematical calculations
- Must have the capability of understanding cause/effect process relationships
- Must demonstrate initiative and a quality work ethic
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be physically able to withstand exposure to temperature extremes and be capable of lifting/carrying/moving up to 25kg
- Regular attendance on site and the ability to work shift schedule
- Participates in the safety and good housekeeping programs as required
