The Company:
Global Oil company are looking for a SPS Claim Engineer.

The Role:
The service holder is responsible, during the Execution phase of the Project and under SPS Control Leader’s responsibility, for the management / negotiation of claims / change orders raised by the main SPS contractor(s).
- As such, the service holder will take knowledge of major SPS contracts for evaluation of potential contract interpretation, will ensure the effective preparation of a background for counter-claims; will take responsibility, up to their close-out, of claims / change orders raised by SPS Contractors, analysing them from a contractual point of view and assessing consequences on Cost and Planning. He will liaise actively with the SPS Contract Engineer (Leader), SPS Control Leader and SPS Manager, providing them advises and recommendations in the contract governance and management. He will attend contractual meetings/negotiations with contractors and participate in all contractual aspects related to the SPS contracts.
- The service holder will have to liaise actively with all the SPS Control team members and SPS Technical members for the performance of the above duties. The job holder will also liaise with the Project Control Contract Leader and, as necessary, with the Legal and Assurance departments from Corporate and TEP Angola.
- The service holder shall observe and shall impose strict confidentiality all along the course of the Project.
- The service holder reports hierarchically to the SPS Control Manager.
- The service holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE rules & requirements.

1. To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE rules and requirements.

2. To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to the Company Ethics and “Code of Conduct” policy.

3. To prepare background for counter-claiming and negotiation of change orders:
- Take knowledge of SPS major contracts, analysing them, evaluating potential contract interpretation and weakness, and providing effective recommendations and advises in the management and governance of contracts;
- Take knowledge of all administrative, general technical processes, analysing them to define their weakness that could lead to Contractors’ claim / change order, and providing effective recommendations for their improvement;
- Ensure the proper preparation and documentation of all information recording events as potential background for counter-claims / change orders;
- Maintain all appropriate written records and advise on records to be put in place for counter-claiming / change orders;
- Record all deviations from Contractor, analyse and valorise them in order to build counterclaims;
- Review advises and drafts letters on contractual correspondence;
- Attend contractual meetings with contractors and participate in all contractual aspects of project, specifically claims, final accounts, variations and contract interpretation;
- Assist SPS Contract Engineer (Leader) in all aspects of contract administration and Quantity Surveying. Assist to contractual negotiations / changes in Contract agreements.

4. To perform counter-claiming / negotiation of change orders:
- Take responsibility of claims / change orders raised by Contractors, investigate and analyse causes, verify and analyses documentation, analyse and verify with contractual requirements / legal requirements, oppose counter-documentation, negotiate and mitigate claims / change orders up to the financial and contractual resolution;
- Inform SPS Management in the consequences of claims / change orders in terms of Cost and Schedule;
- Participate to the settlement of claims / change orders together with legal, insurance and finance specialists and any other support services as necessary.
- Review, negotiate and economically mitigate non opposable claims / change orders.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Professional Experience (years): 15-25
Experience in similar position (years): mini 10.
Level / Diploma: Lawyer, jurist or equivalent diploma.
Languages: English mandatory.
