A major Operator

The Role:
Responsible for performing an independent third party review and verification of drilling engineering well designs, well plans and well execution so as to assure compliance with Industry and Company Standards as they relate to well control, well barriers and well containment for drilling, completion, intervention and workovers operations.
Accountable for providing external, independent Well Design/Plan and Well Execution verification so as to assure compliance with Industry & Company Standards as they relate to well control, well barriers and well containment for drilling, completion, intervention and workover operations.
This includes, but is not limited to examining [independent reviewing] the casing design, examining the operational program, examining compliance with Corporate/Local policy in areas such as barrier requirements, cementing and cementing evaluation requirements, LOT-FIT requirements, inflow testing requirements, equipment QAQC requirements, etc.
In addition, will review the subsurface hazard assessment and PP/FG/MW curves to ensure full range of uncertainties considered and evaluate effectiveness of casing selection points and casing integrity test plans.
Examiner will be responsible for verifying that the program execution follows the well design/plan in regard to critical well control issues and ensures compliance with the reporting as it relates to those requirements; ensuring all critical changes as they relate to well control issues are managed thru appropriate risk assessment and management of change (MOC) procedures.
The Sr. Drilling Engineer – WellSafe Examiner will attend; as is practicable; risk assessments and well design reviews during the well planning process.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Minimum of a B.Sc./B.Eng. degree in Engineering
Minimum of fifteen [15] years of drilling/completion design, planning and operations experience, ideally with a minimum of three [3] years of field experience, and preferably with a recognized operator.
Extensive experience and understanding in the technical aspects of well design engineering; pore pressure & fracture gradient prediction & rock mechanics; surge-swab-ballooning-lost circulation management; well control; directional well planning and surveying
Standard Operating Procedure development; MOC management; onshore drilling and completion operations, specifically extended reach/horizontal drilling and fracture stimulation.
An understanding of a “phase gated” well design and planning process, risk and uncertainty management, as well as management of change.
A detailed working knowledge of the preparation of well programs is an essential requirement.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Must have prior experience working on multi-functional asset or Major Capital Project teams.
Must have the ability to work independently within the BU, work well with others in a multi-functional & multi-cultural team environment and be able to conduct themselves professionally with Asset Teams.
Must be able to professionally challenge others on all aspects of well design and execution.
Must be well organized and able to multi-task.
