The Company:
A Major Operator

The Role:
Responsible for planning and operations input as well as execution for drilling development wells.
Work independently to perform technical drilling engineering for well design, cost estimates, project planning and review of rig design, overall major project drilling operations for performance optimization.
Participate in field reviews, peer reviews, optimization studies, and local operational knowledge/experience gathering.
Wells are managed from the cradle to the grave, all 5 phases, in this position.
Other duties will include contract Management, performance tracking, writing SOP's, offshore visits, and onshore Drilling Superintendent relief.
This position will work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop drilling programs, AFEs, and fit-for-purpose well designs and will assist the Superintendent in day to day execution activities, and support HSE in all aspects.
The position will also be responsible for managing a drilling services contract, both strategically and tactically on a daily basis across all operations, working to the companies guidelines.
Initially this position will be addressing a new operation start up from scratch requiring all contracts and materials to be put in place
Reports to Engineering Manager or Engineering Supervisor and works closely with Operations Superintendents and other operations personnel to implement the best available technology in drilling and completion operation
Prepares drilling cost estimates based on the projects' drilling data and applicable benchmarking data.
Performs WellView queries, as required, in order to access a wealth of information on well planning, drilling, completions, schematic visualization, etc.
Prepares technical specifications for drilling-related tangible equipment and material (i.e. cements, mud, etc.).
Prepares Basis of Design documentation to support well designs basis which shall include all key design parameters and specifications.
Prepares rig strategies, drilling and/or completion and well services rigs.
Prepares tender documents and evaluation criteria for drilling equipment and services.
Uses Landmark applications to provide technical services and support well design recommendations

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering (or Mechanical, Civil and Chemical Engineers will be considered depending on the experience level).
Demonstrated a minimum experience of 10 years in Drilling and/or Completions operations.
Experience in, drilling and completion optimization, directional drilling and work over operations, well servicing (coiled tubing, acidizing, lift boat operations) including program development and operational execution .
Operational Drilling experience.
Ability to coordinate a multitude of personnel and equipment in a fast paced multi-tasking drilling & completions environment. .
Ability to fill in for Project D&C Manager – Superintendent as needed. Ability to plan for a new operation start up

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience with Wellview (or equivalent Drilling database software) is preferred.
Proficiency at Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Experience with writing drilling equipment and services specifications.
