The Company:
Our client is a leading global oil and gas operating company.

The Role:
Position will backfill a vacant role until it can be hired on as permanent staff.

The North Slope Safety Engineer position provides leadership and technical safety expertise in support of all CPAI NS oil and gas activities. This position is a senior safety resource for the Company organization.

Responsibilities may include:
-Consult with other safety professionals to assure a consistent application of health and safety programs
-Interact with medical clinics and other Safety Engineers to ensure proper and consistent classification of injuries and illnesses
-Work with on-site operations personnel/contractors in implementing Company HSE policies and procedures
-Provide on-site assistance, guidance and mentoring to Slope-based operations safety specialists
-Provide final review of all North Slope operations incident investigations
-Anticipate and recommend corrections to actual and/or potential HSE deficiencies related to activities
-Assure compliance with Company HSE policies and the Alaska Safety Handbook by thoroughly understanding the content of these documents
-Perform duties of Incident Management Team role as Safety Section officer by being knowledgeable of the IMT structure and computer software in the event that the Production Field IMT is mobilized
-Actively support the particular Behavior-Based-Safety process at the work location and identify ways to increase participation by facility personnel
-Build and maintain a high level of visibility in day-to-day operations in an effort to promote / enhance safety rapport with operations personnel.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-Legally authorized to work in the United States
-Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety or related field
-5+ years of experience as an HSE professional in the oil and gas industry

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
-Well-developed planning and organizational skills including the ability to work independently, prioritize activities, meet commitments, proactively manage time and generally manage a heavy workload
-Certified Safety Professional
-Exceptional leadership, organizational, and problem solving skills
-Practical self-starter and can work effectively with minimal supervision
-Proven ability to interact within layers of internal and external organizations
-Strong interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive relations with other HSE team members and client groups
-10+ years of experience as an HSE professional in the oil and gas industry
-Experience in arctic oil and gas operations an advantage
